InsideGOLF: +$140 Value
Just $39.99Luke Clanton, who has the potential to be golf’s next star, was a trendy pick for this week’s Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club. So much so that Subpar podcast co-hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz both picked him for their Fanatics Sportsbook bets of the week.
No matter, Knost pivoted. He took Cameron Young to top 20 (+140).
“He’s starting to play better, and the time is now,” Knost said. “Trevor Immelman told me Cameron Young is going to win this week; he’s normally right. So at least give me a top 20.”
Stoltz stayed with his Clanton pick (top 20, +190). The former top-ranked amateur turned pro earlier this month at the RBC Canadian Open. He missed the cut that week and tied for 34th at last week’s Travelers Championship.
“I went back and looked at his scorecards, he made a ton of birdies, a lot of bogeys,” Stoltz said. “He made four bogeys on his closing nine; he could have easily been in the top 20 this past week, but he’s just getting his feet wet as a pro, getting acclimated. People hit a lot of drivers on this golf course and he hits driver incredible.”
Collin Morikawa is the betting favorite at the Rocket Classic with +1200 odds to win. Patrick Cantlay (+1600), Keegan Bradley (+1800), Ben Griffin (+2200) and Young (+2500) round out the top five.
