The field for the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C., is just about set.

The PGA of America announced the field Tuesday, and a few notable names received special invitations after not meeting the qualification criteria.

Young LIV golfers Tom McKibbin and David Puig were given invitations. As members of LIV Golf, Puig and McKibbin have limited opportunities to earn Official World Golf Rankings points and are therefore not ranked inside the top 100, which is the standard cutoff for qualification. Joaquin Niemann received an early special invitation to the PGA Championship; the Chilean also received a special invite to the 2025 Masters.

There was another notable LIV name on Tuesday’s announcement as Dustin Johnson, whose exemption for his 2020 Masters win expired this year, was awarded a place in the field. Johnson is ranked 751st in the OWGR and has only two top-10 finishes in majors since he joined LIV in 2022 (2022 Open and 2023 U.S. Open).

Also getting an invite was Rickie Fowler.

Fowler was a member of the 2023 U.S. Ryder Cup team. All players who were members of the U.S and European Ryder Cup teams receive invites as long as they remain in the top 100 in the world. Fowler, who has just one top-20 finish in nine PGA Tour starts this year, has dipped to 125th in the OWGR and received a spot ahead of 13 players ranked ahead of him. Fowler was invited to the 2022 PGA Championship when he was ranked 146th in the world. He has not missed a PGA Championship since 2010.

Fowler earned his first-career PGA Tour win at the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow.

Two spots will be awarded this week to the winners of the Truist Championship and Myrtle Beach Classic, if those players aren’t already exempt. There will be 14 past champions in the field; Tiger Woods and John Daly aren’t among them. Woods is recovering from surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Here’s the full field for the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, along with an alternate list and qualifying criteria.
