This Tiger Woods Masters-worn shirt could be yours.
Golden Age Auctions
Tiger Woods memorabilia goes up for auction at a regular clip, and these pieces of golf history often demand huge final bids. But one Tiger item currently open for bids is unlike any that’s hit the auction block before, and it could fetch a final price unlike any other, too.
The item in question is one of Woods’ iconic tournament-worn Sunday red shirts, currently listed for auction by Golden Age Auctions. What makes this specific Tiger shirt so special is that it’s from the 2010 Masters.
The 2010 Masters is not among Tiger’s five victories at Augusta, though he did finish a respectable T4 that year. But the tournament is significant because it marked Tiger’s first start after his sex scandal splashed onto newspaper front pages in November 2009, forcing Woods to take months off from the game.
Golden Age Auctions calls the shirt, which is also signed by Tiger, “one of the finest pieces of modern golf memorabilia to ever reach the auction block.” Better yet, they claim it’s the only Tiger Masters red shirt you’ll find anywhere other than Tiger’s own closet: “It is our understanding that this may be the only Sunday Red Shirt from the Masters Tournament in private hands.”
Despite the auction house expecting potentially record bids for the shirt, the starting bid was a modest $5,000. Bidding was officially opened on Tuesday, and in just a single day the price skyrocketed to $40,701 (as of early Wednesday morning).
That price is impressive, and surely will go higher in the coming days, but it has a lot of work to do to surpass other Tiger memorabilia auctioned off in the past.
