The 2020 Players kicks off on Thursday and features one of the best fields all season battling for one of the year’s biggest purses: $15 million. Competitors will be grouped in threesomes and keep the same playing partners through the first two rounds, teeing off on both the 1st and 10th tees at Sawgrass.
Half the players will get their tournament started Thursday morning, highlighted by the star-studded group of Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth, who begin on the 10th tee at 8:46 a.m. ET. Major-winners Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner and Jimmy Walker tee off at 8:24 a.m. ET on the front nine.
Thursday’s afternoon wave will feature defending champion Rory McIlroy, who is paired with Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm for the first two rounds. They get started at 1:51 p.m. ET, not long after a trio of rising stars at 1:18 p.m. ET: Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa and Matthew Wolff.
