The streaming giant announced “Full Swing” season 2 will drop on the platform on March 6. For those who follow the golf calendar, that’s the Wednesday of the Arnold Palmer Invitational with the PGA Tour’s flagship event, The Players Championship, coming the following week. It’s also the same week as LIV Hong Kong.
Chad Mumm, the executive producer of the show’s production company, Vox Media, confirmed on Twitter that, like with previous Netflix series releases, all episodes from the season will drop at once.
The first season of the docuseries, which followed the same template as the popular F1 series, “Formula 1: Drive to Survive,” debuted in February and outperformed expectations. GOLF’s James Colgan reported last month the series was streamed for some 53.1 million hours between its debut and the end of June. The series was picked up for a second season in early March, less than a month after its release.
The first season consisted of eight episodes, each focusing on a different PGA Tour or LIV Golf pro during the 2022 season.
Netflix also tried to capitalize on the success of the two shows with its first-ever live sporting event in November, the Netflix Cup, which saw PGA Tour pros Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa and Collin Morikawa team with F1 drivers for a match in Las Vegas.
The promotional materials that dropped Wednesday featured players Rory Mcllroy, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Tom Kim, Joel Dahmen, Matt Fitzpatrick, Alex Fitzpatrick, Wyndham Clark, Keegan Bradley, Justin Rose and Ryder Cup captains Luke Donald and Zach Johnson.
Netflix did not announce how many episodes would be coming in the second season, or any specific storylines, but Mumm did previously confirm that cameras were rolling with several big-name players on June 6, the day the PGA Tour and Saudi PIF announced their bombshell framework agreement.
Other likely storylines from the players announced are brothers Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick nearly winning the Zurich Classic team event (which would have earned Alex a PGA Tour membership), Keegan Bradley winning twice but still being left off the Ryder Cup team, and Rickie Fowler breaking his five-year winless drought.
Of the players announced, Mcllroy, Thomas, Johnson, Fowler, Dahmen and Matt Fitzpatrick return after being featured last year, although Fowler did not get his own episode.
