Bryson DeChambeau leads LIV Golf Mexico City after 36 holes at Club de Golf Chapultepec, although this leaderboard has turned into a good one.
DeChambeau, after rounds of 63 and 66, leads at 13 under, while Cameron Smith (12 under) trails by one. Joaquin Niemann (10 under), Jon Rahm (nine under) and Tyrrell Hatton (eight under) are also still in the mix.
“I think we play a very similar style of golf,” Smith said of DeChambeau. “We’re both pretty aggressive, particularly around here. I think there’s a lot of opportunities to lay back, and all of us were hitting driver [Saturday] and trying to send it down there and give ourselves an opportunity. It was cool to watch. He’s obviously a great player in his own right, and he’s going to be tough to beat.”
The winner of LIV Golf’s sixth stop of the season brings home the customary $4 million prize, with the runner-up receiving $2.25 million and third $1.5 million. Even fourth place gets a seven-figure check at $1 million.
Per usual, the winning team brings home $3 million, while second place gets $1.5 million and third $500,000.
