The new year on the PGA Tour begins with the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions, which gets underway Thursday morning with the opening round at Kapalua. Here’s what you need to know to watch Round 1 on TV or online.
Previewing Sentry TOC Round 1
This week Jon Rahm returns to the site of his closest near-miss of the 2022 PGA Tour season. Last January, the then-World No. 1 put on a show at Kapalua, finishing with an incredible total score of 33 under. That would have set all kinds of records if not for one thing: it wasn’t the lowest score of the week.
Cameron Smith actually clipped Rahm by one to take home the trophy last year. The good news for Rahm is that he won’t have to contend with Smith this week, thanks to the Australian star’s decision to join LIV Golf late last year.
But Rahm, who is the betting favorite, will have to duel with the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth and many more proven champions to capture the title.
It all gets started on Thursday, with Rahm will teeing off for his opening round at 5:35 p.m. ET alongside Matt Fitzpatrick. You can stream the first round via PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ beginning at 2:15 p.m. ET, or watch the telecast on Golf Channel starting at 6 p.m. ET.
