Here’s what you missed from Round 2 of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

June 22, 2019

The third women’s major championship of the season is already halfway over, and Hannah Green has a commanding three-shot lead heading into the weekend.

Here’s everything you missed from Friday’s action at Hazeltine National.

Hannah Green stayed strong

First-round leader Hannah Green followed her opening round of 68 with a second-round 69. She’s seven under par overall. The 22-year-old Australian is seeking his first major — as well as her first LPGA Tour victory.

Loads of big names are lurking

Two-time major champ Ariya Jutanugarn is three shots behind Green’s lead, while another two-time major champ, Lydia Ko, is also within striking distance at only four shots off the lead. Neither Jutanugarn or Ko has won a Women’s PGA Championship.

Defending champ Sung Hyun Park (-3) and Nelly Korda (-2) are also in the mix. Lexi Thompson is six shots back at one under par overall.

What about Michelle?

Michelle Wie made headlines on Thursday for her tearful post-round interview after posting an opening 84. On Friday, the struggle continued, as Wie posted eight bogeys and a double-bogey en route to an 82 to miss the cut.

Other notables to miss the cut

The famously tough Hazeltine National was no easy task for the women this week, as every player who was five over par or better earned the right to play the weekend.

Notable players to miss the cut include Karrie Webb (+6), Morgan Pressel (+6), Shanshan Feng (+6), Anna Nordqvist (+7), Paula Creamer (+10), Laura Davies (+11), Stacy Lewis (+11), Jennifer Kupcho (+15), and Michelle Wie (+22).
