Corey Conners found himself in a rough spot during the third round of the Cognizant Classic, but he still made an unlikely par save.

Pro golfers don’t like making 5s on par-5s, but Corey Conners had an eventful one at the Cognizant Classic on Saturday.
Conners, the two-time PGA Tour winner, went bogey-birdie to start his third round on The Champion course at PGA National Resort, but he hit his tee shot on the par-5 3rd into the trees left of the fairway.
He tried to just punch out, but from the straw and sticks and muck you sometimes find off the fairways, that’s not always easy. That led to this chunk, which landed directly in front of a tree.
But there’s good news here! Conners was able to find a window to punch out, although his fourth shot from 211 yards found the greenside bunker. And from there he promptly splashed it into the bottom of the cup for a ho-hum par.
“No way that’s a par,” said the PGA Tour Live broadcast.
It was. And what a par indeed. Conners shot an even-par 71 on Saturday and he’s two under for the tournament. Here’s how you can tune in to all the action on Saturday.
