What makes Shadow Creek such an elite experience? An ‘Office’ star weighs in

In addition to gaining fame playing Kevin Malone on “The Office” TV series, actor Brian Baumgartner has become a mainstay on golf’s elite pro-am circuit. He’s a 16-year veteran of the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe, where he’s enjoyed rubbing shoulders with dozens of fellow celebrity golfers and athletes.

In addition to keeping high-level company, Baumgartner has also checked an impressive list of courses off his bucket list. And on this week’s episode of Subpar, Baumgartner described ultra-luxe Shadow Creek in Las Vegas as “the best place” to hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz.

Knost was immediately hooked with the mention.

“People ask, like, last round of golf of your life,” Knost said. “And I tell people, Shadow Creek. It is that good of an experience.”

“It’s my one, Shadow Creek,” Baumgartner concurred. “Because it’s the full package. It’s always in tremendous shape.”

Baumgartner explained that his personal definition of a great golf course is one in which every hole is different and provides the potential to hit different kids of shots with different obstacles in the way.

“The greens are lightning fast all the time, and it’s beautiful, and the hang — how they treat people who show up there, it’s unlike anything in the world,” Baumgartner said. “It’s the total opposite of [Los Angeles Country Club].”

“There’s a lot of places like that too, where the golf course is spectacular, the hang is a zero,” Stoltz said. “Shadow’s like maybe the pinnacle of elite golf course, elite hang.”
