We’ve officially reached the weekend at the biggest women’s golf tournament of the year. Here’s what you need to know for the third round of the U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills in Wisconsin.
How to watch U.S. Women’s Open on Saturday
Due to inclement weather, a handful of players had to finish their second rounds on Saturday morning, but now 36 holes are complete, the cut has been made and tee times have been reshuffled for Moving Day.
Mao Saigo sits alone atop the leaderboard, and if you aren’t familiar with that name, you should be. The 23-year-old pro from Japan won the first major of the year, the Chevron Championship in April, and now has a three-shot lead (eight under) at the midway point of the U.S. Women’s Open.
Ranked 13th in the world, she has four top-11 finishes in nine starts this season. She’ll start Saturday with a three-shot edge over six players, a group that includes World No. 1 Nelly Korda, Sarah Schmelzel, who contended at the Chevron before tying for 6th, and 2020 U.S. Women’s Open champ A Lim Kim.
Two-time major champ Ariya Jutanugarn sits at three under, and In Gee Chun (three majors) and Minjee Lee (two majors) are both two under. Lydia Ko is even and tied for 36th.
Saigo, Korda and Hinako Shibuno tee off at 12:40 p.m. ET Saturday for their third round.
