With the inaugural regular season ending Tuesday night, the first-ever TGL playoffs are set to begin. Given that the TGL is a brand-new indoor golf league, the playoffs will feature a unique format and qualification system that golf fans will be seeing for the first time.
In light of that, we’ve put together a complete guide to the TGL playoffs so you can learn everything you need to know before the postseason begins.
The inaugural TGL season saw six teams compete in five matches each. Each team earned 2 points for a win and 1 point for an overtime loss. The top four teams with the most points following the end of the regular season qualify for the playoffs.
The two teams who finish in fifth and sixth place in the regular-season standings miss out on the playoffs. If two teams are tied in points at the end of the regular season, then whichever team won more holes in their five matches wins the tiebreaker.

While one regular season match still needs to be played Tuesday night, the playoff field is already set. Los Angeles Golf Club, the Bay Golf Club, Atlanta Drive Golf Club and New York Golf Club will compete in the inaugural TGL playoffs.
The seeding, however, will not be set until the final match is over. That being said, Los Angeles has clinched the top seed. Meanwhile, Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf team will both miss the playoffs after finishing the regular season at the bottom of the standings.
The inaugural playoffs will consist of two rounds. In the semifinals, two single-elimination matches will be played, with the winners advancing and the losers going home.
In the final round, the two surviving teams will compete in a best-of-three series of matches to determine the 2025 champion.
The first of two semifinal matches in the TGL playoffs will take place on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The second match will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 18, with ESPN providing TV coverage of the second match.
The final round of the TGL playoffs will begin with the first match on Monday, March 24, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The second finals match will occur the next day, Tuesday, March 25, beginning at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Should the teams split the first two matches, a third and final match will be played immediately after the second at 9 p.m. ET, also on ESPN.
Both playoff rounds will be streamed live online via ESPN+.
The total TGL purse for the 2025 season is $21 million. The team that wins the title will take home the SoFi Cup in addition to $9 million split among four team members ($2.25 million each).
