The 2025 Players Championship was supposed to end on Sunday. But now a Monday playoff is set between Rory McIlroy and J.J. Spaun for Monday morning, March 17, at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the playoff on Monday, including full Players Championship TV coverage, streaming info and the starting time
Despite an hours-long delay due to rain and lightning midday Sunday, all players were able to complete their final rounds at TPC Sawgrass. One problem: the championship was still not decided.
World No. 2 Rory McIlroy and J.J. Spaun ended the final round knotted at 12 under. And since darkness had fallen across the Stadium Course, they were forced to head home and return Monday morning for a playoff.
9 things to know about the Players Championship Monday playoffBy: Jack Hirsh
The format for this year’s Players Championship playoff is a three-hole aggregate. Both McIlroy and Spaun will play the 16th, 17th and 18th holes at TPC Sawgrass Monday morning, and whoever has the lowest total score when they putt out on 18 wins the title and its $4.5 million winner’s prize. Should it still be tied after 18, they will move to a sudden-death playoff on the par-3 17th.
