We have another PGA Tour Signature Event on our hands this week with the flagship 2024 Players Championship, and we’re picking the most recent major champion as a long shot. Here’s our pick, the Players Championship odds, betting favorites and everything else you need to know.
Players Championship odds: Long-shot bet
Our long shot for this week’s star-studded tournament at historic TPC Sawgrass is Brian Harman, who comes into the week with +6600 odds to win.
Harman has had an up-and-down start to the 2024 PGA Tour season. He finished T5 in his first event at The Sentry and added a T18 at the Sony, but a few rough weeks followed.
However, Harman never missed a cut, and then last week he jumped back into contention at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, eventually finishing T12.
But most importantly, Harman is the most recent major champion, having triumphed at the 2023 Open Championship last July. Whenever a reigning major winner who is uninjured has long odds as Harman does this week, it’s worth a small bet.
If you put $10 on Harman to lift the trophy and he’s successful, you’ll earn $660. For insurance, consider placing additional small bets on Harman to finish top 10 and top 20.
Looking for more long-shot bets for the Players Championship? Our honorable mentions this week are Keegan Bradley (+6600) and Harris English (+8000).
Players Championship odds: The favorites
The stars of the PGA Tour are all playing for the second week in a row, and last week’s winner and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler leads them all with +550 odds to win. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy follows him at +1400.
You can see the top 15 in Players Championship betting odds as of Monday afternoon below or head over to BetMGM to see the full list of odds and bets for this week.
