This week the PGA Tour heads to Illinois for the 2024 John Deere Classic, and we’re tapping a golfer making just his second start as a pro as our long-shot pick to win. Here’s our long-shot pick, the John Deere Classic odds, betting favorites and everything else you need to know.
John Deere Classic odds: Long-shot bet
The player we have our eyes on as a long shot with the potential to win is 23-year-old Neal Shipley, who comes into the week with +8000 odds to win.
Shipley has had an outstanding spring and summer on pro golf’s biggest stages. He earned low amateur honors at the Masters and the U.S. Open before turning pro.
He made his first start as a pro last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where he finished T20. Shipley has star potential, and this week provides him a perfect opportunity to cap his season with a win.
If you bet $10 on Shipley to win and he pulls it off, you’ll earn $800. For insurance, consider placing additional small bets on Shipley to finish top 10 and top 20.
Looking for more long-shot bets for the John Deere Classic? This week’s honorable mentions are Adam Schenk (+6600) and Taylor Montgomery (+6600).

Coming in second is World No. 24 Sepp Straka (+1600), followed by Jordan Spieth (+1800). Aaron Rai, Davis Thompson and Denny McCarthy are all tied at +2200.
