Charles Schwab Challenge final round preview
Guess who’s back, back again? Yep, that’s right, Scottie Scheffler, who’s seeking another PGA Tour victory on Sunday at the Charles Schwab Challenge just nine days after his arrest fiasco at the PGA Championship in Louisville. Scheffler has been one of the best players in recent memory over the course of the last 18 months, and this weekend has proven no different. A brilliant Saturday 63 pushed him into solo second on the tournament, four off the mark set by current tournament leader Davis Riley.
Speaking of Riley, the former Alabama star has played brilliantly all week at Colonial Country Club, notching three-straight mid-60s scores to push himself four shots clear of the field. Riley is seeking his second-ever PGA Tour win this weekend, and first in a solo competition (his only other victory coming alongside pal Nick Hardy at the 2023 Zurich Classic.) He’ll have to best a field including Scheffler and young star Pierceson Coody, a descendant of Texas golfing royalty himself, who will attempt to mount a Sunday charge.
A smaller than “usual” PGA Tour purse awaits the stars of this week’s event, which is not part of the Signature Events series rota. Below is everything you need to know about the Charles Schwab Challenge’s $9.1 million purse; you can catch the action from 3 p.m. ET until the completion of play on CBS.
