AIG Women’s Open Final Round Preview
The 2024 Women’s Open is the year’s final major — and this year, it’s a fitting send-off at the Old Course at St. Andrews.
It’s an exciting leaderboard heading into the final round, with some of the game’s biggest names — Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, Lilia Vu and Jiyai Shin — battling for the title.
Also up for grabs: a tournament-record purse. Thanks to a $500,000 increase over last year’s total, this year’s $9.5 million purse is the largest ever for the Women’s Open.
The purse size has bumped up dramatically since the Open was last staged at St. Andrews in 2013. That year, Stacy Lewis took home $402,583 for her victory. This year, the winner will earn more than three times that amount, with a first-place check totaling $1.425 million.
The increase makes the Women’s Open the third most-lucrative of the five majors, behind the U.S. Women’s Open ($12 million) and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship ($10.4 million). The Amundi Evian offers $8 million and the Chevron Championship offers $7.9 million.
