McIlroy faced No. 52 Scott Stallings and dispatched him comfortably with a final score of 3 and 1. The win puts McIlroy on the fast track to the weekend’s knockout rounds, but he still has to keep up the solid play over the final two days of round-robin play.

On Thursday, he’ll go one-on-one against Denny McCarthy starting at 3:50 p.m. ET.
