This week’s field at the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba features several world-class players, all of whom are among the betting favorites according to the World Wide Technology Championship betting odds via BetMGM. Here’s what you need to know.
2022 World Wide Technology Championship odds: This week’s favorites
At last year’s Mayakoba event, young star Viktor Hovland captured his third PGA Tour win with a four-shot victory over Carlos Ortiz. He also won the 2020 tournament in Mayakoba, making him the defending champion twice over. Thanks to those results, Hovland is among the betting favorites this week with +1100 odds to win.
But despite coming off back-to-back wins, Hovland is not the outright favorite to win his third in a row. That honor belongs to Scottie Scheffler (+900), who recently lost his No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking to Rory McIlroy.
Other pre-tournament favorites include Collin Morikawa (+1600), Billy Horschel (+1800) and Tony Finau (+1800).
2022 World Wide Technology Championship odds: Long shot of the week
Justin Lower is off to a great start in the new PGA Tour season. Last year, he collected two top-10 finishes in 24 starts. He’s already matched that total in four starts in the 2022-23 season, finishing T4 at the Fortinet Championship and T8 at last week’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship. His worse finish yet is a T45 at the Sanderson Farms.
Lower will face a much tougher field in Mayakoba than he did in any of those events, but his game is clearly in good shape and trending in the right direction, a deadly combination.
At +8000 odds to win, if Lower pulls off his first PGA Tour victory this week he would turn a $100 bet into $8,000.
