This week the PGA Tour heads to iconic Torrey Pines for the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open, and the field is the best of the season thus far, with major champions up and down the ranks. But he’s joined near the top by a host of elite players with major resumes, including Justin Thomas (+1200), Dustin Johnson (+1800), Hideki Matsuyama (+1800) and Bryson DeChambeau (+2000). Just a little further down the list you can find three-time major champ Jordan Spieth at +3500 and defending champion and 2018 Masters champ Patrick Reed at +4000. So if you’re trying to pick a winner this week, good luck.
2022 Farmers Insurance Open: Longshot of the week
As mentioned before, major winners can be found throughout the field this week. In fact, the player with the most majors in the field is our longshot of the week: Phil Mickelson. Mickelson hasn’t gotten off to a great start in 2022, finishing T30 at the Tournament of Champions and missing the cut at the American Express. But the reigning PGA champ has a lot left in the tank, and with his odds at +15000, Phil is well worth the risk this week. If you bet $100 on him to win and he pulls it off, you’ll walk away $15,000 richer.
