This week the PGA Tour rolls into the Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi for the 2020 Sanderson Farms Championship. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the tournament.
Sanderson Farms Championship preview
While the Sanderson Farms Championship has been played on the PGA Tour since 1968, for many years it was contested opposite other, bigger tournaments. But starting last year, the tournament earned its own spot on the schedule. Not only that, its purse increased by 50 percent and the winners are now afforded full FedEx Cup points and a tee time at the Masters.
Sebastián Muñoz was the first player to take full advantage of the upgraded tournament in 2019, defeating Sungjae Im in a playoff to capture his first Tour victory. Muñoz is back in the field this week to defend his title, but he’ll face a tough test to go back-to-back.
Im, who went on to finish 11th in FedEx Cup standings, is also back to avenge his narrow loss in 2019. Last week’s champion, Hudson Swafford, is forgoing rest to try and keep his hot hand going in Mississippi. And several major champions will tee it up as well, such as Zach Johnson, Stewart Cink, Charl Schwartzel, Jimmy Walker and Lucas Glover.
