These are expensive days to be a professional golfer.
On Sunday at East Lake, the PGA Tour capped off its annual, $100 million dalliance in the postseason, the FedEx Cup Playoffs, with one final massive payday at the Tour Championship.
Tommy Fleetwood was the winner for the first time in his PGA Tour career, but even a $10 million winner’s check wasn’t enough to dethrone Scottie Scheffler’s role as the Tour’s highest-paid player in 2025. Scheffler, the World No. 1 and winner of half of golf’s majors in 2025, enjoyed his fourth consecutive season as golf’s priciest date.
His payout is one of a handful of cash stats that tell the story of 2025 in golf. We dive into the 11 best of them below.
1. $26,579,550
Scheffler’s total on-course earnings in 2025, the most on the PGA Tour for the fourth straight year.
In a sign of how Scheffler’s play (and golf’s pay) has evolved over the last handful of years, Scheffler’s earnings in ’25 ($26.6 million) were nearly double his earnings in his first year as golf’s highest paid player in 2022 ($14 million), which was itself nearly double the earnings of golf’s highest-paid player in 2021 (Jon Rahm, $7.7 million).
2. $5,141.11
How much Scottie Scheffler earned per tournament shot taken in 2025.
3. $349,730.92
How much Scheffler earned per tournament round in 2025.
4. 69th
Where Scheffler’s on-course earnings in 2025 would rank on the PGA Tour’s all-time money list, just behind Chad Campbell, and just ahead of Padraig Harrington.
5. $2.6 million
The gap between Scheffler’s earnings in 2025 and his mammoth, $29.2 million earnings in 2024, the highest-paid season of his career. Scheffler finished T4 at the Tour Championship, the Tour’s highest-paying event, where he collected a check worth … you guessed it, $2.6 million.
6. 236th
Where Fleetwood would rank on the PGA Tour’s all-time money list if he never made a dime on the PGA Tour other than his $10 million winner’s check from the Tour Championship.
7. 3rd
Where Scheffler’s on-course earnings rank today on the PGA Tour’s all-time money list, behind only Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
8. 23.02 percent
The percentage of Fleetwood’s all-time earnings owed to his $10 million winner’s check from the Tour Championship.
9. 7.58 percent
The percentage of the season-long PGA Tour purse won by Scottie Scheffler 2025, the highest percentage over the course of an entire season since Scheffler’s 10.54 percent run in ’24. The last time a player other than Scheffler won more than 7 percent of the available purse in a season was Woods in 2008, who won 14.09 percent.
10. 39.11 percent
The percentage of purse money won by Scottie Scheffler in events he started in 2025. Or said differently: The rest of the field was left to fight over just 60 percent of the overall purse in events Scheffler started.
11. 3,408 times larger
Scheffler’s $26.579 million in earnings for 2025 is approximately 3,408 times larger than the last player on the PGA Tour earnings list, former major champ Jason Dufner, who earned just $7,800 in 2025.
