Picks to win
Colt: Justin Thomas, +1700
“I’m going with a past champ around here. He’s one of the best iron players in the game, which I think is very important around here. The weather does look pretty good, they are saying winds 10 to 20 mph possibly, but nothing crazy like we saw last year. He was in good shape going into last weekend, didn’t have the weekend he wanted at Bay Hill, but he rises to the occasion in these big events.”
Drew: Patrick Cantlay, +1600
“Coming off a T4 this past week. Just two shots behind Kurt Kitayama. Made a nice little move in the final round. Hasn’t had his best stuff in years past at Sawgrass, which I can’t really understand. Throw away last year because the weather hasn’t been great, but like, how? I don’t think there is a bad course for him, but this one should be tailor-made for him.”
Colt: Tommy Fleetwood, +8500
This is some value right here. I love his iron game. If it does happen to get windy, he’s very good in the wind. He’s got a T7 and a T5 here at the Players.”
Drew: Shane Lowry, +5000
“This guy has some nice form around Sawgrass. Thirteenth last year, eighth the year before. If it’s windy I love him even more. But if he gets it going he’s won big-time tournaments before.”
