Adam Sandler and Bad Bunny in "Happy Gilmore 2."

Bad Bunny is taking over as Happy Gilmore's caddie in "Happy Gilmore 2."

Netflix

With the rare occurrence of Christmas and the first night of Chanukah falling on the same day, Happy Gilmore himself delighted movie fans Wednesday by dropping the first teaser to the upcoming “Happy Gilmore 2” in a holiday surprise.

Adam Sandler, who played the titular hockey player turned golf pro phenom, and will reprise the role in the upcoming Netflix film tweeted the teaser to his 3.1 million followers late Wednesday morning.

Happy Holidays!
And Happy Gilmore to all!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/eYcP1Bdrv8

In the short, 33-second clip, most of the shots include Sandler, donned in his now signature beard and iconic Boston Bruins jersey from the original 1996 film. However, the clip also confirms the appearances of Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce and rapper Bad Bunny in the film.

Fans of Allen Covert’s performance as Otto, the homeless caddie in the original film may disappointed as it appears Bad Bunny has taken over the role as Gilmore’s caddie based on the teaser. It’s often said you never want to be a rising star’s first caddie (see “Fluff” Cowan and Tiger Woods), so it appears Otto may have fallen victim to the trend.

The teaser did confirm the appearances of two of Gilmore’s co-stars from the original film; Julie Bowen as Gilmore’s love interest and director of public relations for the “Pro Tour” Virginia Venit and Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Gilmore’s rival on the “Pro Tour” and antagonist of the first film.

In a nod to a line in the first film, the popular “Shooter McGavin” Twitter account posted that he would be dedicating his performance in the sequel to “Chubb’s memory.” The character of longtime golf pro Chubbs Peterson was killed off in the first film, and the actor Carl Weathers passed away in February.

I’ll be dedicating my performance in the sequel to Chubbs memory

Earlier this year, GOLF reported “Happy Gilmore 2” would mostly be filmed at New Jersey’s Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club. Shooting was to begin in early October.

No official date was given for the sequel’s release, which will be exclusively streamed on Netflix, but a banner at the end of the teaser confirmed a 2025 release. The film will be directed by Kyle Newacheck.
