Workout like Lexi Thompson from the comfort of your own home
Just because you’re stuck at home, doesn’t mean you should be slacking on improving your game. In fact, now you have more time than ever for at-home workouts that will have a positive impact on your game.
And if you don’t believe us, how about taking this advice from 11-time LPGA Tour winner and major champion Lexi Thompson instead?
She took to Instagram to demonstrate a few exercises you can do at home with or without equipment that will also help you once you’re able to get back out on the course.
Her workout is largely focused on building strength in the glutes and posterior chain, which makes sense because the glutes are the engine of your golf swing.
She starts off her workout with squats using a kettlebell, but you can easily do air squats if you don’t have access to weights. Lexi even gives you some good pointers on form: “Feet shoulder width apart, feet a little toed out. Ensure good posture — header, chest out. And squeeze at the top.”
Next, she performs 10 single-leg deadlifts per side. Again, she uses a kettlebell, but you can easily do this with no weight, aiming to perfect your form and reach your hands as low as you can instead. Her advice for this exercise: “Good posture, keep your core tight and really focus on your balance.”
Lexi then moves to a hip rotation using a band. Like all of the exercises she has demonstrated, you can perform this without a band as needed. Her advice for this exercise: “Really focus on keeping your balance as you rotate that hip. Keep it nice and slow and controlled.”

The last exercise in Lexi’s quarantine workout is a monster walk. With a band just above her knees and maintaining a good squat position she steps out to the side, keeping about a foot of space between her feet during this exercise. You can do this exercise without a band, just be sure to squeeze your glutes as you step out to make sure they are firing.
“There’s a few exercises you can do at home while quarantined!”
