Why female-friendly Bandon Dunes is the perfect resort for a ladies golf trip

On my first trip to Bandon Dunes, what stood out most to me was how female-friendly the resort was. From the food to the rooms, it was welcoming for all golfers. Bandon does a phenomenal job of making women feel welcome throughout the entire experience.

For starters, my room at the Lilly Pond Cabins was cozy and went above and beyond the standard offerings. It featured cozy chairs to bundle up by the room’s fireplace and a patio to take in sunrises and sunsets that words can’t do justice. There was even a shoe dryer. It’s little details like that, especially after a soggy day on the course, that stick with you.

But there’s more to do than just play golf at Bandon.

The resort has a massage center, and I can’t think of a better way to unwind after the long journey to Bandon or a day spent walking 18. They also have an extensive hiking trail system. You have the option of hiking through the woods to become one with Mother Nature or down the cliffside to the beach. It’s a great alternative to break up your rounds and soak in the full beauty of Bandon.

The staff is incredibly helpful when it comes to sorting out how to play Bandon. On my visit, we had women of all skill levels. Despite the difficult layouts, there’s a tee box for everyone and hardly any forced carries to intimidate a high handicapper. There wasn’t a course anyone in my group wouldn’t love to play again — there’s something for everyone.

My group did, however, have a favorite: Bandon Preserve. The par-3 course is as fun as it gets, and a great option for groups to stay close to one another. I highly suggest grabbing your drink of choice and ending one day (or several) at Bandon Preserve. If that beverage happens to be wine, you’re in the right place — Bandon’s vast wine offerings have been called out by Wine Spectator.

When it comes time to grab a bite, the food choices are many at Bandon, which was much appreciated by my group of winos and foodies. These weren’t your typical masculine steak and potatoes menus, though it’s readily available should you be in the mood for that. Each restaurant had a unique menu that covers just about every dietary preference. Whether you’re in the mood for a salad or shepherd’s pie, a pint or a cocktail, an intimate or bustling scene, Bandon offers whatever you may be looking for.

The courses are world-class, the food is top-notch, the rooms are cozy and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming to all at Bandon Dunes. Get your girlfriends together for a golf trip of a lifetime.
