In 2020, PXG (Parsons Xtreme Golf) came out with its 0311 Gen3 irons, and there was a limited release of 0811X and 0811X+ Proto drivers. Those two releases are significant, because it seems that those designs were the predecessors to what’s coming next: PXG’s new Gen4 products.
On Tuesday, PXG announced that Gen4 drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons are coming to retail in 2021.
“We’ve held nothing back, spared no expense, and poured every ounce of innovation, and every lesson learned into these babies,” said PXG founder and CEO Bob Parsons, in a press release. “The result – clubs that are absolutely amazing and expensive, but worth every cent. Everything you would expect from PXG and more.”
According to a PXG press release, the Gen4 family will include drivers ($549), fairways ($429), hybrids ($379) and irons ($349 each). Remember, the company also recently released its 0211 products, which have more budget-friendly price points.
While PXG has unveiled the new products, pricing, and a pre-sell date of March 9, the company is not yet sharing details about the new technologies. For now, we’re left to compare the new Gen4 products to already-released products to see if we can draw any conclusions.
Compared to the previous 0811X Proto drivers, it appears the Gen4 drivers have only three weight ports on their soles instead of four. The Gen4 crowns also have a new black-and-silver look compared to the all-black 0811X Proto crowns. Additionally, it appears the metalwoods use something called “AV Carbon Fiber Tech” in their heads.
The Gen4 irons also have a different look than the Gen3 irons of 2020. Most notably, the Gen4 irons appear to have weight ports in their back cavities, and slightly different cavity shaping than the Gen3 irons. Until PXG comments on the designs, though, were left to speculate on how exactly those back weights help golfers.
We’ll keep you updated on more information as it becomes available. Until then, enjoy photos and brief details about the PXG Gen4 lineup below.
