If you’re a fan of forgiving golf clubs you’re probably a fan of Ping, and the new Sigma 2 Valor 400 putter ($235 MSRP) should be right up your alley.

Touted as the highest-MOI Sigma 2 model ever, the newest Ping flatstick features a counter-balanced design with a 400g clubhead and extra-long 38″ shaft and 15″ grip. To provide the desired balance point and feel, 50g of weight is added to the butt of the grip, promoting a more pendulum-type stroke and enhanced consistency.

“With the success of the Sigma 2 Valor among golfers and on Tour with two wins this spring, the addition of a counter-balanced option allows us to address an important segment of golfers who prefer this type of technology while delivering an exciting new custom-built option,” said John K. Solheim, Ping President. “MOI is about 12% higher than the original Valor, a significant increase. And counter-balancing encourages that smooth, pendulum motion and helps take the wrists out of the stroke.”

Other features of the Sigma 2 Valor 400 include a dual-durometer PEBAX face insert for a soft feel and improved distance control, and Ping’s patented TR face pattern that yields more consistent results on off-center hits. The standard grip on the Valor 400 is a specially designed Ping CB60.
