Miura's TC-202 carries on the legacy of Miura's storied history.
Miura
When you hear the name Miura something shifts.
With all of the big-time club manufacturers in the world, it’s this 68-year-old family-run Japanese forging house that still carries all the mystique.
Much like watching LeBron James or Michael Jordan on TV versus seeing the greatest ever to do it live, the Miura experience is just different. Quietly making irons for some of the biggest names and companies in golf has all but cemented Miura Golf on the equipment Mt. Rushmore.
So when word gets out that Miura has upgraded its flagship iron, the iconic TC-201, it goes without saying that golf-club nerds and connoisseurs will start leaning in.
Miura’s newest offering is the TC-202 iron line, an evolution of the successes of the 201 with a blend of old-school craftsmanship and pinpoint technology.
The TC-201 irons (the “TC” stands for Tour Cavity) came from the pursuit of making irons with muscle back-like performance but added forgiveness-like cavity backs. The result is an iron with slightly larger dimensions than Miura’s MB-101 blades, but with a shallow cavity and progressive weighting throughout the set. That opens the door for far more players to enjoy the benefits of a fully forged iron.
While the TC-201 was popular, Miura operates under the principle of “We will never produce a new club until we can improve an existing one.” With the TC-202, Shinei Miura, son of founder Katsuhiro Miura, has blended together several of the best traits of Miura irons over the years.

“Shinei Miura has blended the best attributes of our favorite and best-performing Miura irons into one refined package; the TC-202, our best tour cavity model to date,” Miura COO Bill Holowaty said. “We are confident that if you are looking to have a different perspective on what a good iron is, the TC 202 should be on your radar.”
Building off the TC-201 was no small task. The TC-201s were the first Miura iron to introduce progressive weighting to a player’s blade iron. Unlike traditional muscle-back irons, the TC-201s feature CGs that get progressively lower as you get into the long irons. The result is a set of irons that helps golfers achieve aspirational high launch with long irons and low piercing trajectory with short irons.
With the new TC-202s, Miura refines on the successes of the 201 and adds in other technology from popular Miura irons.
Here are 4 key things to know about the new Miura TC-202 irons.

1. T-Weight Bar
The new T-Weight Bar in the back cavity combines the heel-toe weighting that made the TC-201 so forgiving with the center mass distribution found in the CB 57. By placing the mass right behind the sweet spot, the T-Weight Bar helps optimize both trajectory control and the sound and feel of the TC-202.
The T-Weight bar also lowers the CG to help boost forgiveness.
“The Miura manufacturing process has allowed for the precise placement of the weight bar and the center of gravity,” Holowaty said. “This produces trajectory and distance control normally reserved for muscle back irons. Even on your misses.”
2. Progressive depth cavity

Like the TC-201 before, the TC-202s also feature progressive shaping from the long, mid and short irons. The long irons feature the deepest cavity for the lowest CG and the highest amount of forgiveness.
Meanwhile the T-Weight Bar takes up more of the cavity in the mid and short irons, helping to provide more blade-like trajectory control and feel.
3. Shaping borrowed from KM-700
The third classic Miura iron with influence on the new TC-202 is the KM-700 blade. The toe profile of the KM-700 was borrowed to help optimize the distribution of the head weight.
Like the KM-700, the CG of the TC-202 is moved toward the toe and closer to the center than a traditional iron, increasing the head’s stability.
4. Y-Grind sole
TC-202 irons feature Miura’s Y-Grind sole (the “Y” is a nod to Yoshitaka Miura) to enhance turf interaction.

The grind features an optimized sole with and trailing edge relief to help the iron enter and exit the turf smoothly and efficiently.
