The loud crack of golf ball meeting driver face is a familiar sound to golfers. A low hum followed by a whir, however, is a bit different.
Scratch that, it’s a lot different.
That unusual sound combination belongs to a golfer you won’t encounter in your Sunday foursome. For the latest edition of GOLF’s 2022 ClubTest, which we’ll roll out early next year, we’ve added a new tester to our team in the form of Gene Parente’s Golf Laboratories robot. To be clear, this isn’t the first time we’ve employed a robot for gear insights, but we’ve never leaned on machine testing for this much detail — some of which will be made available only to InsideGOLF members.
In this special behind-the-scenes look at ClubTest (see video above), GOLF’s Jonathan Wall and Andrew Tursky, along with True Spec’s Kris McCormack, discuss the inner-workings of independent robot testing, the value it provides and how it can benefit your game as the latest gear is released.
