The list of positives to glean from our socially distant last 12 months is inarguably short. The days are long, the weeks are long, and, evidently, the years are long, too. In the malaise of the last year, it’s easy to forget some of life’s smaller, simpler pleasures.
For the work-from-homers, the daily commute has turned into added hours of free time every day. Zooms have replaced in-person meetings. And of course, the void created by such activities has created a steady shift in workplace attire. When one’s coworkers are their family, roommates or pets, a “business casual” requirement typically slips down to just “casual.”
And what comes with “casual” attire? Sweatpants. Lots and lots of sweatpants. These elastic waistlined pieces of soft fabric are staples of the new American workplace. But bringing sweats from the home office to the golf course is easier said than done. Golf is growing steadily more progressive in its attire-mandates, but last fall’s Hoodiegate proved there’s work to be done still.
It seems the best method for achieving sweatpant-level comfort on the golf course is not to bring sweats to golf, but to bring sweatpant technology to golf apparel. Fortunately, a series of companies are doing that already.
Below are 8 pairs of golf pants that will help to provide you with the freedom and comfort provided by sweats, with all the style needed to look clean and sharp on the course or in the clubhouse.
