We’re more than halfway through the PGA Tour season, and with that in mind, it’s always fun to start looking at equipment trends among the players who have won so far. Earlier this year leading up to the Masters, we looked back on a decade of major winners to see if you could better predict a winner based on putter style, and now we’re doing the same except this time we’re focusing on drivers for the 2022-23 season.
There are some standouts in terms of wins, and even more interesting, a single standout in terms of wins by players that are equipment free agents.
Let’s break down the list.
PING – 11 Wins, 3 uncontracted
Ping has had a very good year with its drivers on the PGA Tour so far and had the most wins of any company by players that are not contractually tied to using their gear — the most recent example of that is Jason Day using a G430 LST to win the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Titleist – 10 wins, 2 uncontracted
Titleist dominates club use counts almost every week on the PGA Tour. From drivers to wedges, they’re a leader, so it should be no surprise to see them near the top of this list. Just like with others, Titleist has driver models to suit any player type, and every model sees usage on Tour, including the TSR1, which is specifically designed for players with moderate clubhead speeds.
Just goes to show how important fitting is at every level.

Callaway – 9 wins, 1 uncontracted
It probably feels pretty easy to stack up wins when Jon Rahm is winning at a historic click, but a lot of other players contribute to Callaway’s win total, including Justin Rose when he won at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier this year to notch a free-agent win.
The Paradym has been a big winner for Callaway in general, and with three models to choose from, it’s easy to get dialed into the right combo to find the perfect fit.

TaylorMade – 4 wins
With a smaller stable of players than any of the other OEMs on this list, TaylorMade is actually punching well above its weight when it comes to wins, but they include some big ones! Scottie Scheffler won both the WM Open and the Players, this year and there is no stopping his hot play — Scottie is also number 3 in total driving, meaning he’s not just long but straight too.
