With the 2025 PGA Tour season already in full swing in Hawaii, anticipation for the action yet to come is already ramping up. What can we expect to see this year? On this week’s episode of Subpar, hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz offered some bold predictions.
“I’m gonna take, for my bold prediction of 2025, Luke Clanton playing on the U.S. Ryder Cup team,” Stoltz said.
A bold take indeed, but not totally unlikely. The top-ranked amateur — who currently plays collegiately for Florida State — nearly locked up his PGA Tour card last year via PGA Tour University with four top-10 finishes, including two runner-ups. A top-five finish this week at the Sony Open, where he’s playing on a sponsor’s exemption, would seal the deal on the Tour card front.
“Given what he’s done on the PGA Tour this past year, he’s gonna get some starts, he’s gonna get some opportunities earlier this year,” Stoltz continued. “I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility he goes out there and wins something. It won’t be in the Signature Events. He’s gonna be playing, you know, the other events.
“He’s close to having done it already. And I think if he goes and wins once and contends and plays well, like, dude, this guy is gonna be on the team. I mean, when it comes to that 11, 12 spot, why wouldn’t you slide a guy in there?”
Clanton brings a a lot to the table, Stoltz said.
“Huge firepower, hits bombs, putts it great,” he said. “It’s not impossible.”
Knost liked what Stoltz had to say, but went in a different direction for his own prediction.

“I want [2025] to be the year of positivity,” Knost said. “Good things are gonna happen. It’s been a rough few years for golf. So my bold prediction is there is gonna be an agreement made, we are gonna see LIV players playing in PGA Tour events before the year is over.
“Not saying it’s gonna happen right away,” Knost continued. “But before the season is over, we’re gonna see Jon Rahm, we’re gonna see Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson playing on the PGA Tour. Everything’s gonna work out, everyone’s gonna be happy and it’s gonna be a great 2025.”
“I’m rooting hard for that,” Stoltz replied.
Before moving on, Stoltz added one more prediction.
“David Puig on the European [Ryder Cup] team,” he said.
“Yeah, I like that one,” Knost replied. “I actually think that’s gonna happen.”
Regardless of who ends up on the U.S. and European teams this fall, one thing is for sure: Both Knost and Stoltz anticipate this year’s Ryder Cup as being one for the ages.
“That’s the one I’m looking forward to the most in 2025,” Stoltz said. “I think it could be a mess, by the way. But it’s gonna be good.”
