Solheim Cup rosters, records: Meet the U.S., European teams

The 19th edition of the Solheim Cup gets underway this week at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Va., with the Americans trying to take ownership of the Cup for the first time since 2017. Europe won by a point in 2019, two points in 2021 and the teams tied last year, meaning Europe kept possession of the trophy.
And if you are wondering why the biennial Solheim Cup is being played this year after it was already held in Spain last year, that’s because organizers are trying to get back on track with the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup alternating years (the 2020 Ryder Cup was moved to 2021 due to Covid). The Solheim Cup will now be played on even-numbered year, with the next scheduled for 2026 in the Netherlands.
This year’s Solheim Cup begins Friday and concludes on Sunday. Stacy Lewis will captain the U.S. squad, with Suzann Pettersen leading Europe. Scroll below for the team rosters and player records.
U.S. Solheim Cup roster
Nelly Korda (Solheim Cups: 4th / Record: 7-4-1)
What version of Korda will we get? She won five consecutive starts to begin the season — and six in a seven-tournament stretch — but followed that with three missed cuts and a T26. She nearly won the AIG Women’s Open last month but played the last five holes in three over and finished two strokes back of winner Lydia Ko. Still, the star of the U.S. team will have lofty expectations this week. She’s 2-0-1 all-time in singles play.
Lilia Vu (Solheim Cups: 2nd / Record: 1-3-0)
Vu won two majors in 2023 and then went 1-3-0 in her Solheim Cup debut. She missed the first two majors of 2024 but played well and tied for second in two of the last three, including the Women’s Open just a couple of weeks ago.
Lauren Coughlin (Solheim Cups: 1st / Record: 0-0-0)
It’s her Solheim Cup debut, but few pros have been playing better. She’s won in each of the last two months and has finished in the top 10 in five of her last six starts.
Ally Ewing (Solheim Cups: 4th / Record: 3-8-1)
A three-time winner on Tour, she’s coming off her best major season, having finished top 10 in three of the five majors.
Allisen Corpuz (Solheim Cups: 2nd / Record: 2-1-1)
Last year’s U.S. Women’s Open champion had a strong Solheim debut with a 2-1-1 record.
Megan Khang (Solheim Cups: 4th / Record: 4-3-3)
Her fourth Solheim Cup last year was by far her best, finishing 3-0-1 and leading the U.S. with 3.5 points. At 2-0-1, she’s still undefeated in singles play.
Andrea Lee (Solheim Cups: 2nd / Record: 1-2-1)
She ranks 9th in birdies on the season. That’s big for match play.
Rose Zhang (Solheim Cups: 2nd / Record: 0-2-1)
The 21-year-old star was winless in her Solheim Cup debut last season. Now that those nerves are out of the way, there’s nowhere to go but up.
Alison Lee (Solheim Cups: 2nd / Record: 1-3-0)
Lee returns to the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2015, when she was an LPGA rookie.
Jennifer Kupcho (Solheim Cups: 3rd / Record: 2-3-2)
A captain’s pick this year, Kupcho was winless at last year’s Solheim Cup after a successful debut (2-1-1) two years earlier.
Sarah Schmelzel (Solheim Cups: 1st / Record: 0-0-0)
The 30-year-old captain’s pick makes her Solheim Cup debut. She’s top 10’d in seven of 21 starts this season.
Lexi Thompson (Solheim Cups: 7th / Record: 9-7-7)
Thompson earned a captain’s pick for what could be her final Solheim Cup as a player, since she announced earlier this year that she’ll step away from a full-time LPGA schedule beginning in 2025. But she wasn’t a surprise pick this year (like she might have been last year), especially since she went 3-1-0 at the 2023 Solheim Cup, which included a key 2-and-1 win over Emily Kristine Pedersen in the final singles matchup. This will be her team-leading 7th Solheim Cup appearance.
Europe Solheim Cup roster
Charley Hull (Solheim Cups: 7th / Record: 12-7-3)
One of the most experienced and productive players for the European Solheim Cup team, Hull’s 13.5 points rank as the seventh-most in team history — and that’s despite her 1-2-0 record last year.
Esther Henseleit (Solheim Cups: 1st / Record: 0-0-0)
The 25-year-old won silver representing Germany at this summer’s Olympics in Paris, and she also top-10’d in two of the five 2024 majors.
Celine Boutier (Solheim Cups: 4th / Record: 5-4-1)
Boutier won four times last year, but hasn’t lifted a trophy in 2024. She was a combined 5-1-1 in her first two Solheim Cups but was 0-3 last year.
Maja Stark (Solheim Cups: 2nd / Record: 2-1-1)
Stark tied for 10th at the Olympics last month; at 24, she is the youngest player on the European roster.
Linn Grant (Solheim Cups: 2nd / Record: 3-2-0)
Grant, a two-time All-American at Arizona State, was 3-2 in her Solheim Cup debut last year. Her three points were tied for the second-most on the team.
Leona Maguire (Solheim Cups: 3rd / Record: 7-2-1)
It’s taken only two Solheim Cups for Maguire to prove she belongs. She was 3-2 last year and owns a 7-2-1 record in her two appearances. Last year she took down Rose Zhang 4 and 3 in singles.
Carlota Ciganda (Solheim Cups: 7th / Record: 11-8-4)
The MVP of last year’s Solheim Cup, Ciganda was 4-0 in Spain and beat Korda 2 and 1 in Sunday singles, which was the deciding point in the match. This will be her seventh Solheim Cup, the same number as teammate Hull.
Madelene Sagstrom (Solheim Cups: 4th / Record: 3-5-1)
Sagstrom was 1-1-1 at last year’s Solheim Cup. She ranks 11th in birdies on the season.
Georgia Hall (Solheim Cups: 5th / Record: 9-7-1)
Hall hasn’t won since her victory at the 2022 Aramco Saudi Ladies International, but she’s finished in the top 22 (including a T5) in her last four starts entering this week.
Anna Nordqvist (Solheim Cups: 9th / Record: 15-13-3)
Nordqvist received a captain’s pick and will compete in her 9th Solheim Cup (the most among this year’s 24 players), which ties Catriona Matthew and Suzann Pettersen for the second-most all-time on the European squad. (Laura Davies has the most with 12.)
Emily Kristine Pedersen (Solheim Cups: 4th / Record: 5-6-1)
Pedersen, a captain’s pick, makes her fourth Solheim Cup appearance. She was 2-2-1 last year.
Albane Valenzuela (Solheim Cups: 1st / Record: 0-0-0)
This will be Valenzuela’s Solheim Cup debut, but the captain’s pick has plenty of match-play success — she was the U.S. Women’s Amateur runner-up in both 2017 and 2019.
