When he’s not a star wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, Adam Thielen is working on his golf game. He played golf in high school — helping his team to a 2007 state championship — and recently put a golf simulator in his house.
Thielen is a low single-digit handicap and has played in the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe, which he will do again this summer. Thielen, however, has yet to be invited to the main event when it comes to celeb/pro events — the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
“I’m not an A-list,” Thielen joked, when talking about his golf game on the latest episode of GOLF’s Subpar Podcast. “Larry [Fitzgerald] has got to help me out.”
Asked which pro he’d want to team up with at Pebble, Thielen didn’t hesitate: Rickie Fowler. Thielen said he was a fan as soon as Fowler hit the Tour.
“I liked his style, his swag, his whole vibe I kind of liked,” Thielen said.
Fowler and Thielen, coming to a Pebble Beach Pro-Am near you? We’ll wait and see.
