It couldn’t stop a rain and lightning storm on Saturday.
Third-round play at the Northern Trust was delayed at 3:45 p.m. due to inclement weather in the Norton, Mass., area. Twenty-six players were on the course when the horn sounded.
The delay could be short. According to weather.com, there was a 90 percent chance of thunderstorms at 4 p.m., but a 35 percent chance at 5.
Among the players on the course was Dustin Johnson, who shot a 11-under 60 on Friday to take the lead into the third round. He was 4-under through eight holes and was leading by three strokes over Harris English when the delay started.
