CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jason Day isn’t just an elite-level golfer. He’s also an elite-level Game of Thrones fan. During a long range session ahead of the Wells Fargo this week, Day traveled down some serious rabbit holes about the show following it’s latest episode — “The Long Night” — and what could happen next.

“I love it,” Day says. “I’m obsessed. There’s nothing worse than having to wait a week for a new episode to come out.”

So how does Day think the show is going to wrap-up? Let’s break it down.

He wanted more from the Night King…

“I would’ve liked to see the Night King in action a little more than just going like this [raises hands] and raising the dead. And then obviously throwing a spear, a bloody spear at Daenerys Targaryen. I 100 percent thought we were going to hear him talk. Especially after Dany said “Dracarys,” and he was alive, and he came out of the fire with that little smile.”

…and was also disappointed by Bran.

“What did Bran do? He did nothing. Absolutely nothing. I don’t know what he was going because he went into the three-eyed Raven mode. Poor freakin’ Theon ended up dying, which ultimately was going to happen anyway.

He was surprised more people didn’t die…

“It’s crazy because no one big ended up dying. I thought there was a lot more big people who were going to die. So saying that, I would’ve loved to see the Night King in action a little more. We didn’t see him do anything except throw that freakin’ spear. It’s going to be interesting to see what they’re going to do.”

…but happy Arya finished off the Night King.

“I’m glad they dealt with it, because once that Dothraki horde went up and you see all the lights go off, it was bad. I mean, it was really good [to see Arya do it]. She was kicking some butt. She started as such a little girl…seeing Arya finish him off, that was cool. But how the hell did they end up letting her through?”

And finished with a bold Dany’s-going-to-die prediction:

“Cersei’s definitely not going to win. I think Dany’s going to die. I think Jon Snow is going to be king.”
