The final round of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club has been moved up due to a threatening weather forecast, the club announced on Saturday night.
Tee times started at 7:30 a.m. this morning off both tees, and groups will go off in threesomes instead of the usual twosomes.
The final tee time is at 9:20 a.m. ET, which includes 54-hole Masters leader Francesco Molinari (13 under), Tony Finau (11 under) and Tiger Woods (11 under).
The CBS broadcast will go live at 9 a.m., and there will also be streaming options available at Masters.com.
Thunderstorms are expected to hit the Augusta, Ga., area at 2 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. The chance of rain beginning at 2 p.m. increases to 75 percent and remains at least that high until 7 p.m. Winds are expected to be around 16 mph.
“The safety of everyone on our grounds is paramount,” said Fred Ridley, the chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters in a press release on Saturday evening. “We also believe the earlier start will give us the best opportunity to complete the Masters on Sunday. This decision should benefit everyone – the players, our patrons and our fans watching around the world. Given the competitiveness and drama of this year’s tournament, we look forward to an exciting conclusion [Sunday].”
