With the calendar now turned to April, golf fans have one thing in mind: the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club. The first major of the season is finally here, so it’s time to start eyeing up the weather forecast for the tournament. And it looks like fans are going to need an umbrella this week.
According to the Weather Channel, the forecast for Augusta is calling for showers throughout the week. The rain is expected to make its initial arrival on Monday with thunderstorms in the afternoon that will likely continue into Tuesday at Augusta National. As a result, the first two Masters practice rounds could be in serious jeopardy. The rain is expected to tail off by Tuesday evening.
Fortunately, it looks like fans are in for a beautiful day on Wednesday for the Masters Par-3 Contest. Wednesday at Augusta is expected to be 81 degrees and sunny. The first round of the Masters should be nice as well, as Thursday’s weather forecast is expected to be partly cloudy and 83 degrees.
But rain is expected to return for the start of the second round, as Friday’s weather forecast calls for morning showers. But it should clear up by Friday afternoon at Augusta National.
Weather is expected to remain cloudy through Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, before more rain showers will make their way to Augusta National on Saturday afternoon. However, the rain that is forecasted for Friday and Saturday is less likely to occur than the thunderstorms that will roll in on Monday and Tuesday.
The final round of the Masters could be an unpleasant weather day. Along with a mix of clouds and sun during the day, scattered thunderstorms are also expected to appear throughout Sunday. Thunderstorms and showers are forecasted to continue into Sunday night.
While rain is expected to wreak havoc on the Masters, temperatures throughout the week will be warm and comfortable. Temperatures are expected to reach the low-to-mid 80s during the week, while dropping no lower than the mid-to-high 50s.
But nevertheless, patrons should be ready with a rain jacket and umbrella this week.
