The Players Championship has a new date and a new theme song to boot.
If you didn’t even realize it had a theme song to begin with, well, you aren’t alone. Golf News Net reports that the old Players theme song was a mix of two songs from the 1982 movie The Man from Snowy River.
On Wednesday the Players tweeted a behind-the-scenes look, and listen, at the new tune, and we approve.
“Really an amazing opportunity to kind of take the classic event and be able to figure out how are we going to find a theme to the new audiences that are loving golf,” said Joel Beckerman, the founder of Man Made Music, in the clip. “It’s just been such a thrill to work on this melody that we hope will be instantly identifiable.”
