One of America’s most expensive tee times set to open on Vegas Strip

Golf trips to the Vegas Strip are back, but like most things in the Sin City, it’s gonna cost ya.

The Wynn Golf Club, which was shuttered years ago before being revived this year, is back, opening to the public Oct. 11. The paying public, that is. Rounds at the revitalized, swanky course will run guests $550, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times. Vegas, baby.

“We’d never create a ho-hum golf experience at Wynn,” club president Marilyn Spiegel told the LA Times. “We take huge pride in everything we do, and we’ve done the same thing with the golf course. Imagine coming off the course and having a Thomas Keller steak or hamburger here. This is going to be a flawless experience.”

After closing the course in 2017, the casino noticed millions of dollars in lost revenue from the only 18 holes on the Strip, and even more lost from prospective golfers who would spend part of the rest of their time gambling. In response, the natural move was to bring back the course. And to do it at an expensive clip.

Five hundred and fifty dollars makes the new Wynn one of the most expensive public rounds in America, ranking up near the likes of Pebble Beach and Whistling Straits, which both require $500-plus when adding in caddie fees and tips. The new $550 rate is $50 more than when the course was alive and well just a few years ago.

The club brought back Tom Fazio — who designed the original course — and his son, Logan, to make Wynn Golf Club sing again. Fazio’s original, which featured tree-lined, dramatic approaches to its greens, will likely include much the same. The course website promises you this: The dramatically reimagined topography offers significant elevation changes set against water features and mature trees for a unique experience for golfers of all skill levels.

Fall visitors of the Strip will have the first opportunity to test it out for themselves.
