These beautiful restored photos show vintage Augusta National like never before

We’ve all seen Augusta National thousands of times before. It’s why we all dream of playing there, and it’s one of the reasons why we love the Masters. Yet somehow, the course keeps finding ways to surprise us.

This week, we got to see the course from a new perspective once again.

Forgive me if you’ve seen these before. I hadn’t, but once they came across my feed I can’t stop looking at them. They’re pictures from the 1930s converted from black and white. Immediately, two big things jump out:

1. How much less dense the trees are. Just look at how thin the trees are behind the 13th green.
2. The course isn’t as pristine as it is nowadays. It’s a little rough around the edges; a little more rugged. That’s not a bad thing, by the way.
