Resort of the Week: Talking Stick Resort

Conveniently located only 20 minutes north of the Phoenix airport, you simply can’t miss the 15-story spread on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community property that comprises Talking Stick Resort, where 36 holes of Coore-Crenshaw-designed golf awaits. The walkable O’odham and Piipaash courses both offer a desert-links feel, but more trees, water and doglegs come into play on Piipash. And if you want to work on your game before or after your round, the resort’s massive practice facility is where lauded Top 100 Teachers and Vision54 instructors Lynn Marriott and Pia Nilsson have their headquarters.

In addition to the superb golf, you can also enjoy dining in six different restaurants, and try your luck on the sprawling casino floor. If the stars align during your stay, you can even attend a concert by a flashy name at the resort’s onsite music venue. For family fun, you can take in a Diamondbacks or Rockies spring training game at nearby Salt River Fields, or take a super-short drive to the OdySea aquarium and one of the world’s most popular Top Golf locations.
