Resort of the Week: Walt Disney World Resort

Less than seven miles south of this week’s Tour venue, the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla., you’ll find the sprawling resort and theme-park paradise that is Walt Disney World Resort. With nearly three-dozen lodging options at various price points, selecting the perfect place to stay is a cinch.

And even if you’re traveling with the family, the on-site golf is not only excellent, it’s also accessible, with sunrise and sunset 9-hole options. There are four designs, including three 18-hole offerings (Magnolia, Palm and Lake Buena Vista) and a fourth, Oak Trail, that is a family-friendly, walking-only nine-hole track. Each features classic Floridian landscapes, vistas and a surprising array of wildlife — and, no, not the animatronic kind! Lake Buena Vista is the must-play, having hosted several PGA Tour, LPGA and USGA events. The Palm, though, might be the toughest challenge with water on nine holes and nearly 100 bunkers.

In addition to the golf options, you can also enjoy four theme parks (hello, Mickey!), two water parks, and a multitude of themed destinations and kid-centric entertainment. Dining options abound, and if your aching feet (or let’s be real: your entire body) need some relief, book a stay at the Victorian-style Disney Grand Floridian, which is the only Disney property with a spa.
