One of the final golf events of 2018 kicks off on Friday with the QBE Shootout at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida. For the 18th consecutive year, the Greg Norman-designed course will play host to the event. The team-event will be a scramble format as well.
Defending champions Sean O’Hair and Steve Stricker are back in this year’s field looking to repeat. They’re slated to tee off at 11:30 a.m. ET against World No. 5 Bryson DeChambeau and Kevin Na. DeChambeau finished tied for 12th last week at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. Before that, he came out on top at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas last month.
The pairing of World No. 9 Tony Finau and LPGA World No. 5 Lexi Thompson are scheduled to tee off at 11:15 a.m. ET alongside No. 17 Bubba Watson and Harold Varner III. Both Finau and Watson are coming off the Hero, where Finau placed second and Watson tied for 12th. Thompson’s last appearance on the LPGA tour ended in victory, as she won the CME Group Tour Championship to close out the season.
Pat Perez, who was featured prominently on The Match broadcast crew last month, is paired up alongside Kyle Stanley. The duo is the first group to head out for the day at 10:15 a.m. ET against former world No. 1 Luke Donald and Andrew Landry.
Lastly, emerging 23-year-old star Cameron Champ will be teeing off with Kevin Kisner at 10:45 a.m. ET on Friday. The pairing will go up against Charles Howell III and Luke List. Champ, who won the Sanderson Farms Championship earlier this fall, finished sixth his last time out on Tour at the RSM Classic.
