The second round of the 2018-19 PGA Tour season opener is in the books. Here are the highlights from Friday’s action at the Safeway Open.
1. Brandt Snedeker made a lot of birdies
Snedeker is picking up right where he left off at the end of the 2017-18 regular season, when he won the Wyndham Championship. On Friday, Sneds carded eight birdies en route to a 7-under score of 65. He currently leads by three over Ryan Moore, Phil Mickelson and Michael Thompson.
2. Phil’s putter is on fire!
After going 0-2 at the Ryder Cup, things weren’t looking too good for Lefty’s game. But he must be feeling some good vibes at Silverado, where he finished T-3 last year. Phil is now in the hunt to claim his 44th Tour win after firing 65-69, which is three shots back of Snedeker’s lead.

3. Former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder didn’t finish last
In his PGA Tour debut, the former pitcher for the Oakland A’s played two respectable rounds, shooting 75-74 (+5). Sure, he missed the cut by a mile, but he still beat two players: Ollie Schneiderjans (+7) and Wesley Bryan (+9).
