Hello, friends! The wrap-around season can feel slow at times, but the last week has been plenty eventful off the course. LIV Golf and the MENA Tour formed an alliance, I watched Boston College get crushed by Clemson in football and Tiger has been out and about. In other words, we have lots to discuss! Let’s get into it.

Year-out Ryder Cup party

A few months ago, I wrote about how the European Ryder Cup team was in great hands with Henrik Stenson as their captain because he is a comedian. Of course, Stenson has been replaced by Luke Donald, but I’d still argue that the team is in great hands. I discussed Donald’s credentials for leading the team here, but I’d like to reiterate that all it really takes for me to get behind a captain is for them to be funny, love ice cream or be great at social media.

Lucky for us at the Rogers Report, Luke Donald seems to be a big ice cream (though gelato when in Italy) guy.

This is a huge selling point for Donald. Also, his wife Diane is an Instagram rockstar. She took us behind the scenes of their “Year to Go” Ryder Cup-planning trip to Rome last week.

As a Jesuit-educated golf lover, can’t look away from this photo. I’m also very curious: How did this interaction go?! I can’t imagine that Pope Francis watches much golf and I’m also not sure how good Donald or Johnson’s Spanish is. But a delightful photo op, no doubt.

Finally, this Ryder Cup pump-up video has me so fired up I’m ready to jump into the actual Colosseum and do battle. If you are my boss, consider this my formal request to attend the event next year.

A budding bromance

Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas. Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns. Claire Rogers and Tiger Woods. There are a handful of best buds in the golf world, and I think it’s about time we give Tom Kim and Sungjae Im the recognition they deserve.

Im stuck around to watch Kim win the Shriners Children’s Open on Sunday, but what I really want to direct your attention to is the following clip, which I truly believe is dopamine in video form. Try and watch it without smiling. I dare you.

This video is giving me “goofing off during layup lines in middle school practice” vibes in the best way possible. It could be jetlag from the trip from Vegas to Japan causing these guys to absolutely lose it over silly putters, but Im and Kim seem like the happiest guys on the planet. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t watched the video 20-plus times.

We caught up with International Team captain Trevor Immelman at the Berenberg Invitational last week, where he spoke very highly of the 20-year old who is now a two-time PGA Tour winner.

And kudos to the International Team’s Twitter account for the following masterpiece.

JT on Fallon

I don’t watch much television, but when a golfer is making an appearance on a show I make sure to tune in (the next morning, that is, when I watch the clips that get posted on the internet). In case you missed it, Justin Thomas went on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, and it was equally entertaining as it was awkward.

As a golf fan, I find the club twirl lesson intriguing and can laugh about the setback in the “golfers are athletes” argument. Other than that, I’d say my favorite thing about these clips is JT’s outfit. It’s fun to see what these guys dress like off the course, and Thomas nailed the “night in Manhattan” look.

Inspired by JT’s sartorial choices, I came across the following images on Getty and felt compelled to share them with you all. Enjoy.

Tiger updates

If you are feeling down about the days getting shorter and winter approaching us, fear not! This video of Tiger teeing it up at The Hay will make you feel much better.

I’m not going to pretend to be a swing doctor, but this all (especially his putting) looks pretty good to me!

Tiger is hosting the TGR Junior Invitational this week, and I’d like to use this moment to personally thank whoever is running the TGR Live social channels because they are doing a splendid job supplying us with content. Let’s check out this first video.

This video taught me a few things. First is that contrary to what I’ve believed for years, I am not Tiger’s biggest fan. That award goes to this little kid who got the TW logo buzzed into his hair.

Also, a zip-up hoodie? Tiger looks like he’s getting ready to do some yard work while Damon Hack looks like he’s ready for Christmas Eve mass. Interesting attire move by the 15-time major champion, but as a chronically underdressed gal I have to support it.

Tiger may have won the Open twice at St. Andrews, but his work isn’t done there yet. He still wants to accomplish one thing at the Old Course, and he discussed it when talking about his favorite course during a question-and-answer session. Here’s what he said:

“My favorite course that I’ve been on is St. Andrews. That’s my favorite course of all time. And the neat thing about it that people don’t realize, the golf course was designed to play backwards. So there’s seven double greens, so you can play from one to 17, two to 16, three to 15. They do that one time a year, and I’ve never gotten a chance to do that, so that’s one of my goals.”

All things considered, I feel like that shouldn’t be too hard for Tiger to accomplish in the next few years.

The best jacket in golf?

Green jackets are cool, but this jean jacket is on another level. Wasserman’s very own Barry Hyde was rocking this at the Berenberg Invitational’s welcome party last week and it was too good not to snap a photo of.

Hello friends and welcome to my personal Olympic games. Sure, I’m “looking forward” to the golf this week, but let’s be honest, there’s nothing quite like the Presidents Cup (and Ryder Cup) galas. We get to see the pros and their better halves all gussied up and earn a behind-the-scenes look at life on Tour … for free!

Watching it all unfold on social media is like vicariously going to prom with the popular kids. Luckily for you, I’ve gathered the best of the best all in one spot. Let’s kick things off with the United States team.

Team U.S. at the Presidents Cup gala

I’m not going to lie, folks. Without Paulina Gretzky and Jena Sims at Quail Hollow this week, I was a little nervous that we wouldn’t get much Instagram content from the WAGs. Sims has always been my go-to for all-things behind-the-scenes content at team events, and Paulina is, well, Paulina. But luckily my feed has still been buzzing. I’d like to personally thank Layna Finau for spearheading the cause and providing lots of images and videos of her experience so far.

If it weren’t for her sharing this post, I never would have realized that a handful of the guys on the U.S. team showed up in the wrong outfit on Monday.

Okay, back to the gala. The players, captains and their significant others headed to the Presidents Cup welcome party on Tuesday evening, and despite Xander Schauffele’s expression, it looked like a grand time.

Schauffele seemed to loosen up a bit once he got next to Kevin Kisner.

In his presser on Tuesday, Jordan Spieth said that Schauffele is the funniest guy on the U.S. Team. I have to admit, that made me a little defensive of Max Homa.

Check out these couples pics! First up we have JT and Jillian Wisniewski.

Next we have Nikki Guidish and Patrick Cantlay, who got engaged two weeks ago.

The Schauffeles were there for Cantlay and Guidish’s engagement, so it’s only right they got a group photo at Quail Hollow, too.

I am going to (mostly) focus on the positives, but I would be remiss if I didn’t take a sentence or two to question the half-dress shoe, half-sneaker situation the boys had going on last night.

I don’t love it. I’ll leave it at that.

Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa could’ve easily been mistaken for a presidential candidate at the ceremony last night, and Layna Finau proved herself to be the queen of the soft smile.

We here at the Rogers Report love to see PGA Tour pros doubling as Instagram takers, and it looks like Tony Finau has been well-trained.

And finally, we have all the American wives and girlfriends having some fun during photos.

The International Team

Okay, okay. On to the International Team, who is absolutely crushing the social media game this week. Mike Weir’s wife, Michelle, gifted us with this fun walk-in video featuring all of Team International’s wives and girlfriends.

And if you weren’t aware that Tom Kim is an international treasure, this video will prove it.

Kim is just 20 years old, is a huge fan of Adam Scott, and says he’s willing to trash talk Scottie Scheffler but not Jordan Spieth this week.

Then we have Adam Scott, perhaps the best-looking person in all of North Carolina this week, instructing his teammates on how to take the perfect photo of him. If you’re seeing this, Mr. Scott, I’d like for you to give my pals a similar lesson.

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s edition of the Rogers Report. It was a nice two-week break from it all, but I’m feeling relieved that the PGA Tour is officially back on Thursday. Golf makes up for (give or take) 90 percent of my personality, and without it I have very little to talk about.

Enough of the small talk. Let’s get to it.

Ian Poulter vs. Billy Horschel?

The week started off strong when PGA Tour players and LIV golfers competed together at the BMW PGA Championship last week, and folks, this was the best reality television around. Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy and Billy Horschel all gave their thoughts on the matter, but to me the whole thing reminded me of when two pals in your friend group break up and then they have to go to the same birthday party. Everyone knows, everyone’s whispering about it and waiting for the moment of truth: when they have to face each other.

And we finally got a standoff (or golf’s version of it, which is much more tame) between Poulter and Horschel last Wednesday.

What I’d give to have been within earshot of this conversation! Both Horschel and Poulter said their conversation wasn’t anything serious, but the body language kind of begs to differ. Poulter went on to add his own audio to the video, which you can check out below.

We here at the Rogers Report love a social media reparation. Well done, guys. And while we’re on the topic of Horschel, he handled getting mistaken for McIlroy very well at the BMW PGA.

Brooks Koepka’s Italian vacation

Between LIV’s Boston and Chicago events, Brooks and Chase Koepka, Jena Sims and crew headed to Italy for a cruise. They made stops in Portofino, Portoferraio and Capri. If you’re like me and have not traveled to these locations, worry not because I lived vicariously through their trip and now you can too.

Jorts are back!

There’s nothing better than a party with a theme, which the Koepka-Sims crew absolutely crushed last week. It started out with prom night. Say what you want about the suits, but this looked really fun.

I also believe this is one of the first times we’ve seen some off-course Chase and Brooks Koepka content, which didn’t disappoint.

These two love to dance! I’d be lying if I said I knew Chase had this in him.

Another one of the themed parties thrown on the boat was outer space night, which Brooks also took very seriously. I don’t see myself going on a cruise any time soon (read: ever), but if I were, I’d want it to be just like this one.

The pros take in Texas vs. Alabama

Golf’s first couple (Scottie and Meredith Scheffler) cheered on the Longhorns over the weekend and the Masters champion got quite the surprise during his time on College GameDay.

In fact, a lot of Texas golf alums were in Austin over the weekend.

Talk about a squad. And although he’s not a Texas alum (perhaps an honorary one? His wife, Angela Atkins, played golf at UT and her father, Marty Atkins, was an All-American quarterback there), Sergio Garcia was in attendance on Saturday after firing a 76 in Round 1 of the BMW PGA Championship roughly 4,730 miles away.

The DP World Tour might now take disciplinary action against Garcia, who failed to provide a reason for his WD. Unfortunately, I don’t think college football would be accepted as an excuse. Let this be a lesson for all my readers: If you are going to play hooky, you need to keep your social footprint clean until you return to work. It’s a rookie mistake and the exact plot line of dozens of episodes of Disney Channel shows.

Finau shoots hoops with Drake

Tony Finau and a handful of other celebrities took their talents to Oregon for an event at Nike’s headquarters last week and it looked incredible. And to hang out with Drake seems like the ultimate bonus for a guy like Finau who loves to rap in his car.

Shane Lowry’s celebrations

We saw it after the 2019 Open Championship, and we saw it again over the weekend. Shane Lowry loves to celebrate his victories (as he should). And lucky for us, he likes to share those celebrations online. Before we get into the celebrations that happened off the course, let’s take a moment to appreciate this moment between Lowry and McIlroy.

Rory says, “I’m really happy for you,” to which Shane replies, “you’ve won enough anyway.” Nice guys alert! It appears as if Rory even stuck around for some of the celebrations.

I love the fact that Lowry got in on a viral TikTok trend that is recording yourself before your first and last drinks of the night, and I really love the fact that Rory is charging his Whoop at the afterparty in the above image. Celebrating or not, this man is committed to getting those recovery numbers!

What ensued the next morning is something we can all relate to, although most of us have never won a professional golf tournament.

I hope by the time this article comes out Shane Lowry is back to feeling 100 percent.

The pros in NYC

Tiger, Joe LaCava, Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns are in New York this week for the Nexus Cup at Liberty National. (But Claire! Liberty National is in Jersey City! I know, but they’re hanging out in NYC, as shown by this image of Scottie Scheffler grabbing some Pizza in the pouring rain.)

Listen, I’m glad we got this image. I’m glad Scheffler is sharing an inside look at his life on social media. I know beggars cannot be choosers and that I shouldn’t tell the World No. 1 what to do, but I would love for the text and location tag to not be covering his face going forward. It just doesn’t look as clean as it would, say, if that were all on the bottom of the screen.

Moving on. I’ve thought a lot about what my photo with Tiger Woods would (God willing, will) look like, and I think I’d be pretty happy if my hair looked as good as Jimmy Fallon’s does here.

Tiger even hit some balls on the range on Tuesday morning and although I am nowhere near qualified to be commenting on the state of his swing, I’d say things look pretty good!

This week in Tyrrell Hatton content

I’m not sure why I don’t include Tyrrell Hatton in this column more often. He is a content machine. Golfers aren’t always relatable, but Hatton definitely was here.

Every on-course video of this man is absolute gold.

Hello, friends and welcome to a Holiday Edition™ edition of the Rogers Report.

First, a few updates on my end: I moved to Boston, attended last week’s LIV event and have spent the better half of the last 24 hours on the phone with my sister, who ended up in urgent care after losing a fight (read: walked into) a cactus in Arizona. Other than that, life is going on as usual! This may have been the first week of the PGA Tour’s short-lived offseason, but there was still plenty to talk about.

Tiger at the U.S. Open

It wasn’t at Brookline but folks, Eldrick still made it to a U.S. Open this year. The 15-time major champion went to Queens to watch Serena Williams take on (and beat) World No. 2 Anett Kontaveit. And this man was DIALED in.

Check out that second photo! I can’t help but wonder if Tiger is this intense while watching a Little League baseball game or kids’ soccer game, or if this level of concentration is reserved for the absolute best. I could honestly see it going either way. But it’s only right that he seemed as focused on Williams’ match as he often does on the golf course.

I’d also like to take a moment to thank Serena Williams on behalf of all golf fans. We didn’t know how long we’d go before our next Tiger fist pump, and she brought one out of him during her match.

Look at that! You can tell he’s had plenty of practice perfecting that celebration. And to my loyal readers at home, the announcer misspoke. He’s had five back operations, not four.

I’m also a huge fan of the way Tiger and Serena have supported and inspired each other over the years. I even dug through the Twitter archives to uncover these old gems.

Just two GOATs showing each other some love! What’s better than that? Probably not much, except the fact that Williams didn’t think she’d be friends with Tiger after meeting him for the first time, which I find hilarious. She’s gotta be one of the only people on the planet who has ever had that reaction. I know, I know, it was because she was a little intimidated, but I can’t help but picture her having a lukewarm reaction to him. Imagine any golf fan meeting Tiger and his or her takeaway be something like, “eh, I’m not so sure about that guy.”

Seriously, though, these interviews show just how highly they clearly think of each other.

And of course, Tiger wouldn’t be Tiger if he (or whoever runs his social) didn’t send out a congratulatory Tweet after it was all said and done.

“Little sis!” I cannot imagine Serena gets called that very often from people other than Venus.

And finally, this Tweet sums it all up. How lucky are we all to have seen these two compete?

The Korda siblings take on the U.S. Open

Tiger wasn’t the only golfer in New York last week. The most talented trio of siblings of all time (this is the only time I’ll admit that title doesn’t actually belong to two of my siblings and me) met up after Sebastian Korda’s U.S. Open match and shared a wholesome moment.

I searched the name “Korda” on Getty Images, and in the first two rows of photos all three siblings showed up: Jessica, Nelly and Sebastian. That’s got to be some sort of record, I would think. Anyways, it’s good to see the coolest family in golf thriving in the Big Apple.

PGA Tour vacations and an engagement

The PGA Tour’s two-week offseason began last week, and the pros are making the most of their time. Collin Morikawa made a hole-in-one while teeing it up with David Lipsky and Alex Kang (yes, that’s Danielle’s brother) at Shadow Creek. And while that was happening, the Schauffeles took a trip with Patrick Cantlay and Nikki Guidish to Napa. It looked lovely.

It’s always a little surprising to see what players wear off the course, but I’m happy to learn that Cantlay and Schauffele’s style is pretty much what I’d expect from these two. I’d say the only guys whose day-to-day style I’ve been surprised by is Tiger (because of those jeans) and Max Homa (more skater-dude vibes than I’d expect for a golfer). Some more photos:

This looked like a blast, although Pat Perez’s wife, Ashley, disagreed in a (since-deleted) comment on our very own Instagram.

I’m utterly confused by this comment because A) it does look fun and B) what kind of comment is that in the first place?

Just as I was finishing up this week’s edition of the Rogers Report, we got some breaking news via Guidish’s Instagram: she and Patrick Cantlay are engaged! For those who don’t know much about Cantlay’s new fiancee, Nikki Guidish graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2014 and then got her professional doctorate in pharmacy at the University of South Florida. She’s good pals with the Schauffeles as well as Jena Sims, who is married to Brooks Koepka.

It looks like Guidish and Cantlay got engaged on vacation. Do we think the Schauffeles played a role in putting it all together, or at least keeping Guidish distracted so that Cantlay could execute his proposal plan?! I’d love to know how this all went down.

The good news is that we now have Morikawa and Cantlay weddings in our future.

Tony Finau also looks like he’s making the most of a few weeks off by resting at home.

He’s channeling the exact energy that I channel between Christmas and New Years. It’s something I like to call “Grandpa Joe time,” which is inspired by Charlie’s grandfather in Willy Wonka. It’s basically when you do nothing but lounge around and sleep for a bit. And it’s always well-deserved.

And finally, Lacey Homa had her baby shower. Great hat, Max.

John Daly being John Daly

It wouldn’t be a proper week in golf without John Daly turning heads, and that’s exactly what he did at the Arkansas football game over the weekend. I would say the following sentence from Daly himself sums him up pretty well.

“Well, I’m not gonna lie, I’m drunk.” This man is an absolute content machine! Fair enough, Mr. Daly and thank you for your honesty.

DJ’s big win

You know it’s going to be a big week when we get a workout video of Dustin Johnson.

Kidding, but this video is pretty fun to watch. It’s been a while since we’ve had some real social content from the Johnson-Gretzky crew, and I’m more than happy to dip my toes back in those waters.

First off, can we talk about this putt?

When I make putts, this is exactly how I make them. They don’t die in the hole. All or nothing. Ten feet past or off the back of the cup and in. And then, to cap it off, DJ talked during his post-round interview. Like really talked.

Ninety seconds? That’s like, three years in DJ time. I feel like I heard his voice more in this interview than I have in years, and I’m not mad about it! And then came Paulina, who had their sons Tatum and River on FaceTime. Hey guys, your dad just won $4 million. No big deal!

Next up came the celebrations for DJ and his team.

I need you all to see these incredible photos of DJ.

I am obsessed with these images. Partly because they’re of DJ, but also partly because they remind me so much of the blurry photos we’d take at bars and college and then upload to a Facebook album with some cryptic album title. Either way, these have been saved to my camera roll.

If there’s anything we know about the Gretzky-Johnson family, it’s that they like to celebrate. Their bachelor/bachelorette festivies were proof of that, but so were these posts from their private flight back to Florida last night.

Gretzky spent a day exploring Harvard last week, and those sweatpants are from the bookstore. Who doesn’t love some good college merch?

And finally, we got this photo of DJ’s whole crew. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Joaquin Niemann got a ride home from these guys. I can’t help but wonder if Paulina asked him to take the above photo!

Hello friends, and happy Tour Championship week! I hope you are all doing well, and if you’re not, maybe this scorecard from Collin Morikawa will help.

A six followed by a 10?! It happened via a four-putt followed on 11 by two shots in the water on 12, and it serves as a good reminder that golf is really hard and sometimes the pros are just like us.

Koepka’s wedding socks

There’s been so much going on in the golf world that we’ve had the privilege of forgetting about the weird beef that Koepka and DeChambeau once had. Or do they still have it? I thought this was all behind us until Koepka’s wedding pictures came out earlier this week and saw the socks he wore at the altar. Kind of interesting that Koepka somewhat included Bryson in his big day!

I thought we put this beef behind us when Koepka and DeChambeau hugged at the Ryder Cup! Then again, the hug might’ve been forced by JT. Either way, with all the PGA Tour and LIV drama going on, I think now is a splendid time to end whatever this feud is.

J.R. Smith and Rory catch up

I can’t often relate to pro athletes, but I can kind of relate to J.R. Smith in this video. He’s in McIlroy’s territory and probably trying to play it cool while talkin’ shop with one of the world’s best!

It all seemed to be going well until Victor Cruz chimes in and asks Smith if he’s made an ace yet. Folks, is there anything worse than one of your pals chirping you when you’re trying to make a good impression? Many are saying it’s only fair that Smith threw Cruz the bird as a response.

Fowler’s family time and lefty swing

We have been blessed with a fair amount of Rickie Fowler content over the last week or so, starting with this video of him and Tiger driving to the exclusive players-only meeting in Wilmington.

Oh, what I would have given to be a fly on the wall for that car ride.

Then we got to see Fowler’s left-handed swing, which to the surprise of absolutely no one, is still 20 times better than my right-handed swing.

Next up we have the Fowler family getaway (to be fair, this could have been a staycation. Tough to tell!), which looked lovely. With parents like Allison Stokke and Rickie, I look forward to seeing which sport Maya Fowler becomes incredibly good at in the next decade or two.

And finally, we have a date night post. We here at the Rogers Report thoroughly enjoy Tour couples content, and this is no exception.

It’s also worth noting that this might be the dream couples Instagram picture. The background is spectacular, the golden-hour lighting is perfect and both Rickie and Allison’s outfits are on point. Kudos to whoever captured this image.

Wholesome content of the week

The fans showed up in a big way at the BMW Championship last week, especially Bay and Killian, who each made their mark on the event.

Bay made some seriously inspirational cards to give to a few players, which we got to see after Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm shared the notes to their Instagram stories.

JT’s note said the following: “To whoever I give this to: I wish you good luck in your golf adventures! You were chosen by the universe to play golf. The reason why you are here is to change people’s lives through golf! You inspire thousands or even millions of people around the world! If you ever feel sad or want to give up, things will get better! Don’t get distracted by fans yelling things like mashed potatoes or get in the hole. Focus on yourself and you’ll be just fine!”

How great is that? Such a feel-good moment. And Rahm’s note included a similar message that ended with “Life is like a hard golf course with lots of obstacles. But even if the course is hard, that won’t stop you from winning!”

Also, shout out to Bay for being an awesome artist. Next up we have Killian who got to meet his hero during a practice round.

My favorite moment of the whole week might’ve been when Killian stuck it to like, five feet in front of his hero. You can’t make this stuff up, folks!

Phelps and JT … bathe?

Hello, friends — and happy Wednesday! I want this week’s Rogers Report to serve as somewhat of a palate cleanser after days of legal documents and court proceedings. That’s not to say I won’t dive into pro golf’s battle at all, but for the most part this will be a LIV vs. PGA Tour safe space!

Let’s first give credit where credit is due: Ashleigh Buhai rallied to a victory on the fourth playoff hole at The Women’s Open on Sunday after giving up a five-shot lead. Her bunker game was immaculate and her husband’s support was as wholesome as it gets.

Finau family updates

To the surprise of absolutely no one, we were given yet another video of Tony Finau throwing down another performance of the “Dougie” over the weekend.

Is this overplayed? Perhaps! Will I ever get sick of these videos? Absolutely not! It’s refreshing to see a golfer having such a great time off the course … although Finau may have been in the dog house after dropping his wife’s phone in the pool at their daughter’s first birthday party. (Kidding. Finau confirmed in his presser in Memphis that the phone survived.)

Making a hole-in-one, attending the Masters and maybe a Ryder Cup are on just about every golfer’s bucket list. Not mine, though. I want to:

1. Attend the TaylorMade holiday shoot and

2. Attend a birthday party thrown by a professional golfer

Why? Because they go all out. Finau’s youngest, Sienna-Vee, turned one over the weekend and the party was top-notch. I’m talking hundreds of balloons, ice cream, cup cakes and perhaps the biggest bouncy house I’ve ever seen. Check it out.

Layna and Tony also went to an Imagine Dragons and Macklemore concert recently and despite Macklemore’s less-than-enthusiastic smile below, seemed like a grand old time.

Maya Fowler’s on-course debut

Charlie Woods. Sammy Spieth. Poppy McIlroy. Lots of PGA Tour children have had their “big moment” showing up to the course, but we hadn’t caught a glimpse of eight-month-old Maya at her father’s place of work until this past weekend.

Adorable! And huge shoutout to my lovely pal Ali Kerns for capturing this heartwarming content.

Joo-hyung Kim

Heads up to all you thirty-somethings: the kids have arrived. Joohyung “Tom” Kim earned his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday at the ripe age of … 20. And furthermore, he’s the first guy born in the 2000s to win on Tour. Nothing makes me feel older than realizing today’s star athletes are younger than me and that my window to be a Disney Channel star has passed.

Anyway, let’s take a look at some moments in pop culture and sports that happened before Mr. Kim was even born.

Feel old yet? Same. Joohyung Kim actually goes by “Tom” because of his love for Thomas the Train as a kid.

Seriously, he loved it. Check out the 60-degree wedge he had in play at the Wyndham Championship last week.

One of my very favorite things to do after we get a new Tour winner is to give their social media profiles a proper look-through. I couldn’t find Kim on Facebook, which wasn’t surprising because, once again, he was born in 2002. The following video from his Instagram profile, which appears to be a FootJoy ad, did not disappoint.

Faldo signs off one last time

By now, you are very aware that Sunday was Nick Faldo’s last day with the CBS crew. I don’t even know Nick Faldo personally, but I always find myself getting sad when people end a significant chapter of their lives — even when I don’t know them. While I think more about why that is, check out this awesome behind-the-scenes video we got from Faldo and Jim Nantz during a rain delay on Saturday:

Of course these guys have a good time on air, but it was really cool to see them off the air, not all buttoned up. Just hangin out! I’m hoping for more of this type of content going forward.

Collin’s clubs

If you’re a golfer who has been to Europe lately, I’m willing to bet you lost your clubs for a few days. Losing them when you have no idea where they are is scary. Losing them when you know exactly where they are is infuriating. And that’s almost what happened to Collin Morikawa the other day. Can you imagine the feeling of helplessness that would come over you in this moment? You can see your clubs, you can see that they fell off the luggage cart, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Tough!

Luckily for Morikawa, things got sorted out. Also I’m a big fan of the fact that he’s sporting his Ryder Cup travel bag these days.

Golf’s biggest breakup

The biggest breakup in golf right now is Rickie Fowler and his longtime caddie, Joe Skovron. But enough about that. Let’s focus on this video that had so much potential. It could’ve been great if the players had gone along with the bit.

Someone asked Tour players how they felt about Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson’s breakup, and I was let down by every single pro in the video. Joel Dahmen – I know you are better than this! What we really needed for this video to come to life was a certain Max Homa. I bet he would’ve talked about the break up, because he mentioned it on Twitter the other day.

Rory throws (more) shade

Before I dive into what Petty Rory (and I mean this in the best way possible) had to say in his presser in Memphis this week, I’d like to applaud him for not going to the gym, playing golf or eating a vegetable for two weeks following The Open. If the guy who came this close to a victory at St. Andrews can do nothing for two weeks, then so can we.

Back to the topic at hand. We all remember McIlroy making this remark, a shot at 20-time PGA Tour winner Greg Norman) after his victory at the Canadian Open in June: “Twenty-first PGA Tour win, one more than someone else. That gave me a little extra incentive today.”

Well Rory-with-an-edge is BACK, and here’s what he had to say on Wednesday morning.

In order to fully appreciate this, you need to know what was said in the LIV court hearing on Tuesday afternoon.

Bold move by Rory! I have to respect the fact that he a) is always paying attention and b) isn’t always petty, but when he is, it’s at the perfect time and it’s delivered perfectly.

Judge Freeman

I saved the best for last today, friends. Let’s all get to know Judge Beth Labson Freeman, the woman who decided the Playoff fate of Talor Gooch, Matt Jones and Hudson Swafford on Tuesday.

Here’s what we know: She pronounced “LIV” as “L-I-V” throughout the hearing yesterday, even after the lawyers named it correctly. This is a power move. It says, “I don’t really care what it’s called.” Next, she asked the lawyers if the Plaintiffs “would be in actual contention to win” the Playoffs. I’ve never been to court before (subtle flex that I’ve gotten out of my speeding tickets), but the fact that “are these guys even that good?” was a legitimate question is hilarious to me. But enough about that and more about who Freeman is.

The 68-year-old judge, who’s a member of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, was born in Washington, D.C. and attended UC Berkeley before taking her talents to Harvard Law School. In December of 2020, Judge Freeman blocked the enforcement of President Donald Trump’s executive order barring federal contractors from training employees on various concepts rooted in critical race theory (Wikipedia is a heck of a place, friends!). And for all you golfers out there, Freeman is a 32.9 Handicap and plays out of Peninsula Golf & Country Club. And oh yeah, she’s a total boss. I’d watch her court hearings all day.

Hello friends! It’s been a busy few weeks in the golf world and we have a lot to go over. Between Ayaka Furue winning the Women’s Scottish Open, Tony Finau’s back-to-back PGA Tour victories and the Women’s Open this week, I’m feeling very excited about the world of golf! So good, actually, that I’m going to disregard the fact that I am dealing with a case of the shanks so stubborn it nearly brought me to tears on my work trip last week. Let’s get right into the good stuff instead.

PGA Tour vacations!

Normal people (read: you and I) take vacations so we can play golf. The pros take vacations from golf, and that’s exactly what Scottie Scheffler, Sam Burns, Collin Morikawa and their better halves did following The Open Championship. Lucky for us, we got to follow along on Instagram. Check out these pensive men!

Of course, they made some time for fun as well and even pitched this snorkeling photo as a potential image for ESPN’s Body Issue. Previous Body Issue star Brooks Koepka would be proud.

Now, one of the most important aspects of any good vacation (not really, but kind of) is getting THE perfect photo. Morikawa’s fiancée, Katherine Zhu, even employed her husband-to-be as her “Instagram Boyfriend.” For those of you who don’t know, that’s the man who is appointed to take all the photos on a given day. It’s hard work, but nothing a two-time major champion couldn’t handle.

Jena Sims and Brooks Koepka’s honeymoon

Jena Sims and Brooks Koepka went on a special vacation after The Open as well. They headed to Greece for their honeymoon, and thanks to Sims, it kind of felt like we were there the whole time.

No, I’ve never been to Greece, but between this content and the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, I feel like I know it well.

Congratulations again to the happy couple!

The Finau family

Folks, if you are not already on the Finau family train, consider this your sign to jump on. They might be the most fun family on Tour, and we owe it to Tony’s wife, Layna, for sharing an inside look at their lives. From Tony’s rapping skills to what it’s like raising five kids, we get to see it all.

And did I mention how wholesome they are? Tony Finau uses the initials of his wife and kids to mark his golf balls, and here’s how he picks who to go with.

As one of five siblings, I found this particularly sweet. And if you’re reading this, Dad, kindly find a way to incorporate your children into your work like this. Thanks and back to the Finaus.

From Instagram to TikTok, Layna is truly a social media pro.

And finally, the Finaus know how to celebrate big time. Family and friends surprised Finau with flowers and hand-made signs when he landed in Utah after his Rocket Mortgage Classic victory and it was perfect. I struggle to find a family member who is willing to pick me up from the airport 12 minutes away, yet Finau had dozens of people awaiting his return. I guess that’s what happens when you win a PGA Tour event.

The Donalds

Ok, ok. I know I just said the Finaus might be the coolest golf family out there, but what I really meant is they are tied with the Donald family. I have been following Luke and Diane on Instagram for years, so I kind of feel like my pals just became European Ryder Cup royalty and I could not be more excited. Allow me to present you a few of the many reasons why the Donald family (Luke, Diane, Sophie, Ellie and Gigi) rocks.

1. They do Halloween right

The Donald family has a tradition of going all out (and I mean ALL out) for Halloween every year. There’s clearly a lot of planning and collaboration that goes into their costumes — two traits that will make a strong Ryder Cup captain. Check out these costumes from over the years.

2. They match on Christmas

You know what matching on Christmas prepares you for? Matching at the Ryder Cup, which the players, the captains and the significant others will be doing each day.

3. They love to have fun

Yes, the Ryder Cup is about competition. But it’s also about having a good time. And it’s safe to say the Donalds don’t take themselves too seriously.

4. They have a really cute dog

Ok, so this technically doesn’t add much to my argument, but we all like looking at cute dogs so I figured I’d include these. Also, I think I trust people who have dogs more than those who don’t.

And last but not least, they are really excited about this opportunity.

Hello friends and welcome to a BONUS edition of the Rogers Report. I wanted to write all about the athletes, actors and celebrities I saw at the American Century Championship a few weeks ago, so let’s get to it.

Good swings

First thing’s first. The folks in the field at the American Century Championship are not only good at their own craft, but they’re pretty good golfers, too. Check out these swings.

We’ve known that Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are good golfers. I’ve got to say I was most surprised by Nick Jonas’ move. Check out that speedy swing! Maybe he’s been following the Bryson DeChambeau training plan in between tours. Who is to say? Next up we’ve got Josh Allen absolutely striping the ball at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

One of my favorite people to see at this event is Steph Curry. Not only is he a superb golfer, but he brings great energy to the course. Last year, he was blasting Olivia Rodrigo tunes in between shots. This year, he celebrated a long drive in hilarious fashion.

I’m not quite sure what we’d call that celebration, but I’m into it. Then my co-worker, Darren, caught up with Curry right after the shot to discuss how he got into the game and more. Check it out:

Justin Timberlake!

Writing about Justin Timberlake is always sentimental for me because I grew up listening to his music (read: my favorite song during my senior year of high school was Mirrors). This is my fourth year working in golf and I don’t think I’ll ever get over how cool it is to watch non-golf celebrities just hang out on the course during a round. It’s a true “They’re just like us!” moment, you know, except for the fact that they are international superstars.

Rooster!

I’m going to be very honest with you all. I have not seen the new Top Gun movie. I have, however, seen the original and I’m a fan of Miles Teller. Maybe I’ll see it this week! But this is all to say that just because I haven’t seen the movie doesn’t mean I wasn’t a little starstruck watching Miles Teller, AKA Rooster, tee it up in Tahoe.

I was nervous to say hi to Teller, but it was pretty clear he was nervous to tee it up as well. He took a mulligan on the 17th hole and was definitely a little more relaxed the second time around.

My experience

I always look forward to the American Century Championship because it’s completely different from any other event I attend throughout the year. It’s exciting to see the pros at Tour events and majors, but this is a unique type of exciting. I get a first-row seat to some of the best athletes and performers in the world at one of my favorite places in the world. Here are a few of my biggest “pinch me” moments from the week.

Hello friends, especially those of you who are mourning the end of men’s major season! The Open Championship delivered in a big way, and it was extremely fun to watch golfers take their social media accounts across the pond. Players, caddies and fans always bring it to the next level during majors, and this week was no exception. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bummed about Rory McIlroy coming up just short, but between Max Homa getting to play with Tiger, Shane Lowry’s back-to-back eagles on Saturday and Cam Smith’s insane back nine on Sunday, there were plenty of memorable moments from this year’s Open.

I also find it pretty interesting that this year’s oldest men’s major winner is Justin Thomas! Twenty-five is the new 35 on Tour and I’m looking forward to a 15-year-old winning a major in the next decade or so.

Let’s take it from the top.

Spieth’s ice cream, Tiger’s glizzy

To know me is to know that I love ice cream. I keep a running list in my Notes app of every ice cream spot I’ve ever been (well, since 2016) along with a ranking and general observations of the scoop. So I was excited to see that Jordan Spieth enjoyed a cone at the Home of Golf last week!

A few things to note here. First, that man is absolutely going IN on that ice cream. Perhaps a cup would’ve been more appropriate for this situation just because he was playing golf, after all. Luckily for Spieth, his agent, Jay Danzi, was there to serve as a cone caddie.

Must be nice! The closest I get to this level of luxury is when I have my sister hold my ice cream while I drive home. Other than that, I carry around my own cones.

Next up we have Tiger doing Something Normal, which for some reason is always fun to see.

Mr. Eldrick Tont Woods, grabbing a hot dog at the turn! Just like any old guy at any old course, except for the fact he’s a 15-time major winner and this was taken at one of the wildest places in golf (Adare Manor at last week’s JP McManus Pro-Am).

JT gets chirped

Justin Thomas hit the kind of top you’d see at your local driving range on Thursday at The Open. The kind you only hit when you’re playing through a group so you’ve got a crowd.

He explained it on Twitter after his round, but I didn’t see video evidence of it until a few hours ago.

So it was only fitting that his playing parter, Shane Lowry, poked fun at Thomas on Friday when he hit a much better tee shot on the 18th at St. Andrews. I would like to take a moment to personally thank Bryan Scutt for sharing this marvelous clip on Twitter. Content warning: swears included.

Lowry said “Much improved anyways!” to which Thomas replied, “shut the f— up.” I love some good, friendly banter, and I really love it during a major championship. I also love knowing that not even a three-time major winner is immune to being made fun of on the golf course.

Lowry shared the following clip of his back-to-back eagles (!) on Saturday, and JT returned the favor with a spot-on reply of his own:

Then Smylie Kaufman got in on it, and now I’m extremely curious to know what happened at PGA National!

Winners on planes!

The following photos of Cameron Smith were shared as he took on the airport after winning The Open, and it got me thinking: are players traveling like the rest of us after winning an event the best genre of golf photos?

No big deal, just storing the Claret Jug in the overhead bin! We also can’t forget about past winners who have made similar moves.

Golfers doing normal things with Claret Jugs and green jackets in tow will never not be funny to me. While the rest of us are trying to navigate getting our laptops and iPads through security, these guys are carrying around pieces of history with them. I also can’t help but wonder how many people each winner was recognized by. Either way, I hope to see more content of pros flying commercial in the future.

Cameron Smith breaks a LONG streak

History is always made at the majors, but some serious history was made on Sunday at The Open. Not only did Cameron Smith win his first major, he broke the barrier for Camerons all over the world as he became the first-ever Cam to win a major. The first Open Championship was played in 1860, so this streak stood for 162 long years before Smith came around. Huge news for the Camerons out there!

Hopefully this now opens the floodgates. With Cameron Young hanging around and several other Camerons lurking (see Tringale, Davis, Champ), it might not be too long before we see another Cameron with a big win.

Brooks hits the town

Missing the cut is never fun, but at least missing the cut at The Old Course means you’ve got some extra time to hang out in St. Andrews. And that’s exactly what Brooks Koepka and Jena Sims did over the weekend before heading to their honeymoon. It’s not rare to see the pros out and about in St. Andrews, but it’s safe to say people were excited to see the four-time major champion.

The two are now off on their honeymoon, so even with a missed cut, it’ll be a good couple of weeks for Koepka.

Tahoe!

Moving on from The Open (which I will miss dearly). I spent a few days in Tahoe for the American Century Championship the week before the Open, and it was a reminder that even people who can spend their time doing anything choose to play golf. It’s always fun to see celebrities and athletes take their talents to the course and to learn which ones are golf nuts just like the rest of us. When I got to chat with THE Nick Jonas, it’s safe to say my middle school self was freaking out. To be honest, mid-20s me was freaking out, too. I couldn’t think of anything to ask Jonas while standing next to him so I blurted out the first thing that came to mind: “How do you like your clubs?” Super cool. Anyway, here’s our chat about things other than his irons.

I also got to tour the Travis Mathew activations while exploring the course, which meant I checked off two goals: I got to practice my left-handed layups and buy a new t-shirt.

The most surreal (and my favorite) part of the American Century Championship by far was chatting with different athletes and celebrities about their own golf experiences. More on that to come this week!

And finally, I got to see Miles Teller A.K.A. “Rooster” hit a drive. I see a little Matthew Wolff in that move…

Hello friends and happy Open week! If you’re like me, your sleep schedule is about to get all messed up in the best way possible. It’s for the sake of great golf, though, so I’m not complaining.

The last week has been a whirlwind of golf fun for me. My best pal made an ace at Wannamoisett Country Club (which I got to celebrate!), I headed to the American Century Championship in Tahoe and then spent the weekend in San Francisco with some college friends who showed me around the par-3 course at The Olympic Club (which is nothing short of amazing).

Between last week’s ACC and the Icons Series the week before, I’ve spent a ton of time watching celebrity golf and not so much of it watching the pro game. It’s been a blast, but I’ve missed my first love: Tour life. Luckily, that’s what this column is for. Here’s what we’ve missed!

The funniest golf couple?

Honestly, Jessica Hadwin deserves a permanent spot in this write-up. I want to declare the Hadwins the most hilarious golf couple out there, but I’m not sure it’s a 50-50 split. It might just be that Jessica is hilarious and Adam is along for the ride. (Adam, if you’re reading this, I believe in you! I just need to be absolutely sure that you’re funny before you join Jessica at the top of my list.) Anyway, Jessica absolutely roasted her husband on social media over the weekend and I am here for it.

It’s important to note that Jessica is a Nurse Practitioner, so she’s not wrong. The lesson here is that if you’re going to mess with Jess online, she’s going to give it right back. Max Homa would be proud.

Greg Norman gets uninvited

I’ve been uninvited to a few things in my day — ice cream with siblings after an argument and a college formal after my date found a better option, to name a few — but neither of those measure up to the “actually, you can’t come” treatment Greg Norman received publicly on Saturday.

Norman potentially taking away from the heritage of the Open? How so?

Totally kidding. I am curious to know how he reacted to this, though. I can tell you firsthand that getting uninvited doesn’t feel great. Now that I think of it, though, it’s kinda an honor to get uninvited from anything major-related, because it means you were once on the invite list at all.

LIVing it up

To know me is to know that I am a bad traveler. I mess up scheduling flights, I can never navigate airports and it always takes me about 40 extra minutes to find the rental car center. And I don’t enjoy flights. I get simultaneously nervous and extremely bored. Sitting still for six hours? No thank you. I did, however, come across a flight that I think even I would enjoy.

With space like that, I would never have to pay for extra leg room again. This looks like the best hang in town, or should I say at 35,000 feet. The music going, Perez dancing, Brooks Koepka and Paulina Gretzky deep in conversation. Oh, what I’d give to be a fly on the wall on that plane.

While we’re on the topic of LIV, I’d like to share the following photo that I can’t quite figure out.

We’ve got Pat Perez, Paulina Gretzky, Trevor Gretzky and Dustin Johnson. Between the backdrop, the poses, the outfits and the props, I am not sure what on earth is happening, but it has definitely sparked my interest. Were they being paid for this? I can’t imagine any other world in which DJ and Perez would be up for this photo-op. Then again, it all could’ve been in the name of good fun. Only they can say.

And finally, we have LIV’s water bottle of choice. I grew up on lukewarm tap water, so anything above that feels extravagant. Dasani? Nestle Pure Life? Sign me up! But Fiji is a whole different ball game. When I think of Fiji water, I think of Bill Gates. I think of the finest country clubs in the world and I think of Queen Elizabeth. Fiji water is not just for anyone.

But guess what, folks? It is for the LIV players, and that right there is how I know that this tour means business. To invest in something like Fiji water means you are 100% positive you’re going to succeed, or that you have already succeeded because why else would someone ever spend $300 (okay, maybe not that much, but a lot) on a simple bottle of water when you could put the cash toward literally anything else?

Jon Rahm’s purchase … and laundry

Okay, friends. I have a few updates on Jon Rahm that don’t include his profanity-laced reaction on Friday, and the first surrounds the Rolex he bought for his caddie.

While Rahm’s caddie’s watch isn’t new, it’s news to the rest of us. An engraved Rolex? Not a bad gift! For my 25th birthday, I got a book and what I thought was a chocolate bar, but it turns out my dad ate a chocolate bar on the way home and didn’t realize he put the wrapper in my gift bag.

Anyways, back to Rahm. It looks like whatever house Rahm is renting for The Open this week is full of condiments but lacking a dryer. Hopefully his shirts air dry before he has to wear them on the course. Damp shirts and windy Scottish weather sound like they don’t mix well.

Wedding weekend!

There’s nothing I love more (sorry, family and friends) than a PGA Tour wedding. DJ and Paulina, Brooks and Jena, you name it. Tom Watson got hitched to Leslie Anne Wade over the weekend, and while we weren’t treated to videos of Kid Rock or Ludacris performing like we were at previous golf weddings, we did get this lovely picture. Congrats to the happy couple!

Also, Watson was in St. Andrews on Monday, which sounds like a lovely way to celebrate.

Tiger’s jokes

I have a theory that Eldrick Tont Woods is his happiest, most authentic self when in the United Kingdom. I will present my evidence below.

First, we have Woods arriving at Adare Manor for the highly exclusive JP McManus Pro-Am.

The shades. The coffee. The backwards hat! He seems calm, cool and collected. And better yet, he’s joking around with someone in the distance.

That’s Exhibit A. On to my next piece of evidence, which is Tiger owning Justin Thomas by the putting green at St. Andrews.

“See you tomorrow for the past winners event. Oh, no. I forgot you’ve never won here.” Savage. It must be nice to be Tiger Woods because you can make jokes like that and have the talent to back them up.

And then there’s this video of Tiger messing with Rory on the putting green at St. Andrews. What I appreciate about Woods’ jokes is that they aren’t loud. He’s quick and witty with his actions, and definitely catches McIlroy by surprise.

Next up we have Tiger stepping on Jack Nicklaus’ foot on the Swilcan Bridge, which isn’t particularly funny, but definitely notable. I know, I know — it probably wasn’t on purpose. If it were, though, I like to picture Tiger whispering something to Jack about how he’s gonna get one major closer to his major record this week and getting his point across via his FootJoy spikes.

And finally, we have Tiger messing around with Lee Trevino.

I’m telling you, this man is in his absolute element this week. He’s more comfortable at St. Andrews than most of us are in our own living rooms.

And finally, although not a joke, I thoroughly enjoyed this image of Tiger in the wild, in the Mysteries and Thrillers section of a book store, no less!

I did my best to find which books he picked up, but couldn’t quite find an answer.

Thanks to a few of my Twitter followers who are clearly much more avid readers than I am, I later learned he picked up “Strangers” by Dean Koontz. Enjoy the book, Tiger.

Morikawa’s big return

2021 Open Champion Collin Morikawa had to give back the Claret Jug on Monday. And according to him, “it sucked.” Fair enough!

He was given a replica of the trophy, but I’m willing to guess it just doesn’t feel the same. I hate returning my sister’s clothes once I’ve borrowed them, so I can totally relate to how Morikawa must’ve felt here.

And now for some general, miscellaneous content from the United Kingdom. First up, Brooks Koepka and Jena Sims rang in their one-month marriage anniversary in Ireland.

Next up we have Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns, who despite looking chilly, appear to be living their best lives across the pond. Make sure to scroll over to the below Instagram post for some WAG content as well.

And finally, we have Mr. Max Homa who is so deeply committed to the game that he went out for another 18 holes after making the cut at the Scottish Open. Talk about a love for the game!
