World Long Drive announces 2019 schedule (with one salute-worthy addition)

December 6, 2018

The World Long Drive Association announced its 2019 schedule on Thursday, and it has one notable addition.

On top of a return to Atlantic City — where I watched in person last year and got hooked — a stop at Fort Jackson headlines this year’s schedule. There the World Long Drive Association will unveil the inaugural “Celebrating Service: Fort Jackson,” an event that will celebrate the armed forces and showcase a long-drive competition between active, reserve and retired service members from each branch.

There will be qualifying events for the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy for the chance to advance to the big stage at Fort Jackson.

“On behalf of the United States Army and Installation Management Command, I’m excited for the opportunity this event provides for our service members,” Lieutenant General Bradley A. Becker told Golf Channel. “The soldiers of America’s army are rugged professionals with a wide variety of talent they develop to make our Army the best in the world.”

The entire 2019 World Long Drive schedule is as follows:

April 16 – Ak-Chin Smash in the Sun (Maricopa, Ariz.)
May 7 – Celebrating Service: Fort Jackson (Fort Jackson, S.C.)
June 5 – Atlantic City Boardwalk Bash (Atlantic City, N.J.)
July 24 – TBA Event (TBA location)
Aug. 12 – Tennessee Big Shots benefiting Niswonger Children’s Hospital (Kingsport, Tenn.)
Sept. 3-4 – Volvik World Long Drive Championship (Texas/Oklahoma border)
