Winner’s bag: Dustin Johnson’s TaylorMade gear at the WGC-Mexico Championship

February 24, 2019

Dustin Johnson coasted to his 20th PGA Tour title at the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship behind a red-hot putter. Known for his prodigious length, Johnson led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting, picking up more than nine strokes on the field during the tournament. Johnson recently tested putters but chose to stick with the TaylorMade Spider Tour Black mallet he’s used a majority of the time since the 2017 BMW Championship.

Johnson made a few adjustments to his setup in Mexico, returning to TaylorMade’s M5 driver and removing his P790 UDI for a more traditional P790 3-iron. He also altered his wedge gaps for the week, replacing the 54-degree Milled Grind in his bag with a 52-degree version.

Here’s a full list of the TaylorMade gear Johnson used to get the job done:

Driver: TaylorMade M5 (Fujikura Speeder Evolution 661 Tour Spec 2.0 X shaft), 10.5 degrees

3-wood: TaylorMade M5 (Project X HZRDUS Black 6.5 X shaft), 15 degrees

Irons: TaylorMade P790 (3-iron; True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shaft), TaylorMade “DJ Proto” (4-PW; True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts)

Wedges: TaylorMade Milled Grind (52 and 60 degrees; KBS Tour 120S shaft), TaylorMade Milled Grind Hi-Toe (64 degrees; KBS Tour 120S shafts)

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour Black (SuperStroke Pistol GT 1.0 grip)

Ball: TaylorMade TP5x

Grips: Golf Pride Tour Velvet
