Tee times, matchups for semifinals at WGC Match Play

The final four is set! At least golf’s final four is set. Matt Kuchar, Lucas Bjerregaard, Kevin Kisner and Francesco Molinari will duel Sunday for the WGC-Dell Match Play championship.

Kisner and Molinari will tee off at 9:05 a.m. local time, with Kuchar and Bjerregaard playing right behind them at 9:20. When those matches are finished, the third place match will tee off first in the afternoon, followed by the championship match.

It was the latter pair — Bjerregaard and Kucharwhose — whose respective quarterfinals matches saw plenty of fireworks.

Bjerregaard stood toe-to-toe against Tiger Woods at Austin Country Club, battling back on the second nine, tying the match with an eagle on the 16th hole. The 27-year-old, who had met Woods for the first time Saturday, then added a birdie to halve the 17th and triumphed when Woods missed a short par-saver on 18.

Kuchar, meanwhile, was in the middle of an odd rules situation with his opponent Sergio Garcia. Garcia missed a short putt to win the 7th hole, and quickly went to tap in what remained — six inches or so — with the back of his putter head. Kuchar would have conceded Garcia’s putt, but he did not do so in time, so when Garcia’s tap-in missed, it counted. The two proceeded to talk about it animatedly throughout the next few holes. Kuchar went 3 Up multiple times but Garcia battled to push the match to the 18th hole. Kuchar would win the last, and the match 2Up.

Kisner and Molinari, meanwhile, both closed out their matches before the final hole. Molinari, who became the first European player to go 5-0 in a Ryder Cup last fall, has cruised through each of his matches thus far. He has wracked up results of 6&5, 5&4, 2&1, 4&3 and 5&4.
